    The truth about Ricky Hatton

Ricky Hatton has enjoyed many years in the limelight, becoming a standout "star" in the world of professional prizefighting. Ever since his upset win over Kostya Tszyu, Hatton has enjoyed being placed amongst the biggest stars in boxing. With a loyal fanbase that will fly across the world to see him fight, a big name in the boxing world, a solid record of opponets, and the recognition of being the man to beat at Junior Welterweight.

But all of this is merely a smokescreen. Hatton is a B level fighter at best. At 140lbs, his division of choice, Hatton is undefeated in the ring. But the division itself is well known for being less than stellar, and I'd go much farther and say it's quite possibly the worst division in boxing right now. Either that or Super Middleweight.

Hatton's biggest victories are a foul filled win over Kostya Tszyu, a knockout of a shot Jose Luis Castillo, and a "knockout" of Paulie Malignaggi.

Hatton walks around at about 180lbs, yet chooses to fight at 140lbs, why? I think it's because Hatton knows he would get starched by any top 5 fighter at 135lbs or 147lbs.

Just look at Hatton's brief "campaign" at 147lbs, a lot of people thought he lost in his very first fight at 147lbs against unhailed Luis Collazo. In his next fight, Hatton opted to fight Juan Urango at 140lbs and earned a UD victory, and he followed that with a 4th round KO over shot veteran Jose Luis Castillo again, at [U]140lbs[/B].

In his next fight at 147lbs, Hatton was knocked out by undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr, and he quickly returned to 140lbs.

Hatton is a fraud. His walk around weight is close to 40lbs heavier than the weight he chooses to fight at. It's clear to me he's picked 140lbs as his division of choice due to the thin level of competition, and low risk opponets that are to be had there. Thus allowing him to continue to feed his record with opponets, and stand out as a "star" in the boxing world, who cashes in with big money fights.

I can't wait to see Pacquiao knock this bum out once and for all.

You're being way too harsh mate. No two weight world champion deserves to be called a fraud or a bum.

I forgot that the Collazo fight was for a title.

I probably am being too harsh on the Paler, but I really don't like him.

I think he owes everything he has to the weak division he's chosen to compete in.

Hatton's a good fighter I wouldn't call him a bum. He's beaten fair opposition. He should have fought Bradley or Holt or another guy at 140 after Malignaggi instead of taking a money fight with someone much better than he is. 140 isn't that great of a division I do agree with you.

                  Indeed they do.

I think Ricky owes a lot to his fans as well. If he didn't have them in his corner, to fly around the world 2-3 times a year just to see him fight, he'd be making significantly less money.

The 140lb. division is getting pretty good. And SMW has a lot of talent right now.

But Hatton does have a pretty weak resume. If he cleaned out 140 NOW, I'd give him a ton of props.
