Good call on the KO. I admit that was the LAST thing I expected to happen based on the fact that Diaz can take a good punch as he showed against Campbell and the fact that JMM recently jumped up in weight.

I was nervous for him but he put on a hell of a performance that without getting too cheesy was truly inspirational in the sense that he's an older fighter who's career could have collapsed with this loss but instead reached in and took it to the younger fighter. Much like Hopkins and Mosley did recently. He just cracked m102879's top 5 favorite fighter list lol

I don't think there was a single round that had to be scored for Juarez aside from the first 2, and the last 2.
I have no beef with people saying John won. I expect completely to take heat for my view on that fight, with HBO shamelessly cheerleading for John and all (although I know you are unswayed by such things).

I liked his work more most likely because I resented the way HBO was calling the fight. 1,2 11,12 where rounds that I though Jaurez won, I also thought he did really good in the 9th. From there though it gets tougher to give him rounds but 4,7,8 were pretty close rounds that are not out of the realm of possibility depending on wether you like bunches of punches or single better quality shots. I just do not think it is a robbery, it bugs me (although I know you agree with that point).

It is not a big deal either way though, I need to get my point up again so argueing about the John-Jaurez fight looks like a good way to do that for myself. I enjoyed the fight, what else can I ask for really and have no issue watching either of them in the future. Although I do agree Jaurez is who he is and really can not expect much more out of him then what he gave tonight.

Same here Pea. I like most sports, but when there is a good boxing match it keeps me amped for quite a while and there's nothing else like it. Especially when either your favorite fighter pulls out a great victory or a fighter that you don't particulary like gets beat down (Margarito fight).

And for the Marquez fight I actually thought the pace started to change in favor of JMM midway through round 3. It just seemed to me like he was landing the cleaner and harder punches while Diaz wasn't landing many effective punches.
Marquez started to get rolling in the 3rd, and really showed up in the 4th I thought. But I still thought the psychological edge was all Diaz, he wasn't landing as accurately, but he was pressuring the **** out of Marquez and with the hometown crowd reacting to everything he did, that was creating an impression on the judges I'm sure.

That's what I was uneasy about, the physical pace being set by Diaz.

I LOL'd when the commentators said something about Marquez breathing heavily out of his mouth mid-fight, saying it wasn't a good sign. I could help but think "didn't he fight breathing heavily out of his mouth for 33 minutes against Pacquiao the first time out?"

Some good thoughts in this post. The bottom line is John/Juarez was a close fight that could've gone either way, I remember scoring a toss up round or two for John. But hopefully they'll rematch each other. I mean, I don't see anybody else dying to fight either of them right now. For obvious reasons.

Marquez always has this look on his face like he's about to collapse at any second which always makes me nervous but he never stops fighting back. I got to accept that this is just the way he is and not necessarily a sign he's about to go...

INCU! Whats up, brother! And there is NOTHING like a great fight. Team sports, for as much as I love them, just can't rival the sure excitement factor as boxing does anymore. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and more jaded, but boxing is really the only sport that gets my blood pumping these days. (Or it could be because all of my teams suck.)

I will say that JMM knocking out Diaz really impressed me though, JMM winning by outboxing Diaz did not take much imagination at all. Knocking out Diaz though was suprising, and the way he did it was magnificent.

It is hard to even put into words how impressed I was with that.

                      There you are, son.

Well, how was it? Was it everything you wanted it to be? We predicted it man, I was off by a round though.

And yeah, Rocky could beat Luevano, but that's not saying much.
