That was a great fight. I highly doubt a Mayweather-Marquez fight would get made. If Marquez moves up to fight Mayweather he'd lose.

Ricky Hatton was the man at 140 & Floyd Mayweather Jr wanted to fight him & Ricky didn't want NO parts of PBF. Didn't you see Hatton/Cotto at the Gatti fight? They were supposed to be next in line. PBF moved up to 147 for a lot of reasons and one of them was cause he couldn't get Hatton (Who was/is the man there).

I can't find any articles that back up what you say, and I've searched extensively.

I can find many articles like this one which seem to show that Hatton very much wanted the fight to happen, and many articles like this one which seem to show that Mayweather simply preferred to fight Judah at that time, rather than fight Hatton, and that Hatton was still very keen on making the fight even after Nov 2005. Do you have any links that back up what you say?

its true......mayweather wanted hatton earlier, and everybody from hatton's camp wanted to take a few more fights before they fought mayweather.

"The only significant fight for Mayweather at junior welterweight would have been a unification fight with division kingpin Ricky Hatton, "but he's not even looking Floyd's way until at least 2007," Ellerbe said. "So there's no need to hold up the belt and the division. The only reason to keep the title would be to make a big fight at 140 in a unification fight with Hatton, but that isn't in the cards right now. So Floyd has given up the title. This way guys like Witter and Corley will have the opportunity to fight for the title and the opportunity to reach their dream."

Here's the link to the Article on "ESPN"

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, focused on bigger fights at heavier weights, vacated his junior welterweight title this week, Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com.

For all the PBF Haters talking about Floyd ducked Shane Mosley

Mosley wanted to go back down to the welterweight division he once dominated after the first fight, but the rematch kept him at junior middleweight (Fernando Vargas). Now, he intends to go back to 147 pounds.

Waiting for him could be a mega fight against pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather would like the fight in November, but Mosley said he doesn't even plan to resume training until November.

"You know Antonio Margarito is out there waiting to fight Floyd," said Mosley, who earned about $4 million plus a percentage of pay-per-view profits. "Those guys should fight each other and we can fight next year. The only thing I know is my tooth is a little lose and I might have to go to the dentist."

Miguel Cotto at 140 wasn't ready for Hatton or Floyd.

"We're looking for guys like Ricky Hatton and 'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather. So you're seeing now the finishing touches on the emerging superstar, and in 2006 hopefully he will be able to claim the mantle of the real, real superstar."

Hatton emerged as the recognized 140-pound champion with his TKO of Kostya Tszyu June 11. Mayweather, the pound-for-pound king who is also promoted by Arum, stopped Arturo Gatti to claim a junior welterweight title two weeks later.

Cotto against either man would certainly qualify as a super fight, but before either match can be explored seriously, he has to keep winning."

Miguel Cotto faces Ricardo Torres Saturday in a duel of unbeaten junior welterweights. But Cotto's camp hopes this is just a step toward 2006 showdowns with Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather.

Despite "Pundits" Marquez Too Much Diaz

Diaz needed to get Marquez out early because of the age difference and Diaz's baby fat body. He almost did it, but Diaz had no answer for Marquez's uppercut, which landed almost every time it was thrown. And Marquez out jabbed Diaz pretty well. Eventually, experience, angles, and accuracy overcame youthful exuberance. One of the best fights I've seen in a long, long time.

I got annoyed with the commentary during the fight. Only Kellerman noted that Marquez was landing as much as Diaz early. Thanks Max, until you spoke I thought I was the freakin crazy one.

                      John Was Robbed

I too was pulling for Rocky as much as anyone in Houston, but it was clear to me that John outpointed him. Chris John can mark this one up as local bias.
