By Jake Donovan - Four years ago, Juan Manuel Marquez held the dubious distinction of serving as the opening act to the unforgettable first bout between the late Diego “Chico” Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo. Marquez won a dominant decision over Victor Polo that evening, but was destined to be forgotten the moment the opening bell rang to start Corrales-Castillo I.

For the past two years, Marquez participated in fantastic fights with the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao. By year’s end, he was forced to stand on the side and watch younger brother Rafael Marquez grab center stage when it came time for Fight of the Year honors, thanks to his part in one of the greatest trilogies in boxing history with lineal junior featherweight king Israel Vazquez.

Tonights fight was INCREDIBLE!.Mayweather "should come out of retirement only to fight..." the last I checked he was supposed to be a professional fighter. How about come out of retirement and...FIGHT period! anyone and everyone. Theres nothing more frustrating than seeing one of the best fighters, if not the best, of our time "sit out" for no dam reason. As long as mayweather pulls this garbage the phrase "greatest of all time" should never come out his mouth. People talk about Joe Lewis's bum of the month club, owell at least the guy fought. "Hopkins never lost but who did he fight?" PLEASE...he fought and owned the divison and because of that feat he will forever be a legend. Calzaghe's HOF seat is waiting. Its about time mayweather showed the sport and its fans some respect and put in some work.

Im glad Marquez recognized Pac as the P4P champ, give credit where its due. Now calling out Mayweather, now thats jumping the gun. Marquez hasnt even tested 140 or 147 to even make that climb. IMPRESSIVE win for Marquez but remember he was favored to win this one.

A brilliant display of well place punch and all pac needs to do is to win his fight and part iii is set. Jmm is the best mexican fighter of all times. I really want and cheering for him to win and everytime his on the rope i feel i was there too. He is the only guy that can beat the pacman.
