it was a horrible game plan even if it was workin in the beginning.
all cotto's punches he was steppin away or countering while as shane was comin at margarito when he was throwin his punches.
cotto outlanded margarito in 8 rounds of the fight

if any other welterweight comes with the gameplan marg came with for the first 6 rounds(taking punches by the bunches to your face), cotto would end up winning the fight most likely by ko. only marg had the chin to execute that gameplan.

What you need to be in order to pull off what margarito did a) be stronger then cotto (how many welters can you say are stronger then miguel right now) and b) be have a rock solid chin.

And c) maybe just maybe have some illegal padding in your gloves to make your punches harder. We don't know for sure what happened now do we? Margarito wasn't throwing any hayemakers in there that i saw, so whatever arm punches he was landing, they seemed to have a big impact.

So if you don't have a, b, and c , chances are you're never gonna make miguel get on his toes for the majority of rounds and spend up the kind of energy he did in that fight. Mosley was the other guy who made miguel dance for a few rounds but cotto was still effectively counter punching in some of those rounds.

        Cotto is tough to beat.

the blueprint is to pressure cotto. how you do that is up to you. margo used his face. clottey can use his defense.
