N'Dou enforced this gameplan against a green Cotto too btw.
Margarito laid down the blueprints for beating cotto

I cannot really comment on the Margarito win anymore... I lost all trust in him since the illegal wraps speculation, I mean... why would he use them against Mosley and not Cotto? I just can't credit or discredit the win anymore because nobody will ever know if he used them or not.Comment

To be fair Margarito seemed to have the tools to beat cotto, pressur, excellent stamina, chin. the only thing in doubt was his power, so its really up for debate, Imo a rematch must take place for both to prove who is better. If Margarito ever gets back.Comment

who knows if cotto will fight margo?Comment

Well for one.. Margarito most likely used his illegal hand wraps against Cotto. And 2 he brought ALOT of pressure.. Clottey does apply SOME pressure but nothing like the pressure that Margarito applies. Also Clottey does tend to tire out in the 2nd half of fights. But don't get me wrong.. Clottey is no pushover at all and does have the potential to beat Cotto. I have Cotto winning a decision but I would not be shocked to see Clottey beat him. It wouldn't be an upset in my eyes.Comment

Margarito didn't lay down any real blueprint to beat Cotto. Nothing of use to the rest of the welterweight division.
What you need to be in order to pull off what Margarito did A) be stronger then Cotto (how many welters can you say are stronger then Miguel right now) and B) be have a rock solid chin.
And C) maybe just maybe have some illegal padding in your gloves to make your punches harder. We don't know for sure what happened now do we? Margarito wasn't throwing any hayemakers in there that I saw, so whatever arm punches he was landing, they seemed to have a big impact.
So if you don't have A, B, and C , chances are you're never gonna make Miguel get on his toes for the majority of rounds and spend up the kind of energy he did in that fight. Mosley was the other guy who made Miguel dance for a few rounds but Cotto was still effectively counter punching in some of those rounds.
COTTO IS TOUGH TO BEAT.Comment
