a big thumbs up to Vitali! this is exactly the sort of thing he should do, because Maskaev doesnt deserve any shot.

I hope that the WBC changes their mind about the Maskaev situation. and if they dont, then I hope Vitali will again do the right thing again and drop the belt.

I think if he fights arreola, it would be a awesome fight. It is either vitali by knockout, or a great fight. a win win situation.

I sincerely don't want Maskaev to pick up a vacant belt. With all of the trouble that happened trying to get Maskaev to fight his mandatory Sam Peter, it put the division on hold for so long. I don't know what Maskaev did to become a mandatory challenger but it just shows what money can accomplish.

But i have to think, if arreola knocks vitali out, he would be a mega star, cuz his interviews are BA and his fights are exciting.

No, throwing in the towel is done by the cornermen not by the fighter, so it's not the same thing at all. And in the amateurs, cornermen are generally more protective of fighters than in the pro game.

You can fight one-handed with an injured hand, or with a slightly injured shoulder, because the injured hand can still be used for defence (blocking and parrying) - but with a torn rotator cuff that doesn't allow you to use your hand or arm even for defence? I don't think so.

Go ahead and fight the best, Vitali.Do like Bowe did and throw that garbage belt in the garbage can.You will always be remembered for it and always will be respected for it.

it was vitali who was putting a stop to maskaev vs peter then he got hurt.blame that on vitali not maskaev.he tried to pay peter to step aside but peter said no.

Yuck. Screw Maskaev - he, along with Chagaev, Ibragimov and Valuev, is what pisses me off about European boxing right now (even their samey names annoy the hell out of me).

It should be Haye, Arreola or Dimitrenko.

what did James toney call them? Vitalia & wladarina the klitschko sisters! LOL! They should fight toney but they are ducking him because they know he could beat them both...he hasn't forgot about peter either.

Bowe threw the belt away so that he wouldn't have to fight Lennox Lewis, who most boxing experts think would have beaten him - and you think Bowe will always be remembered and respected for doing that?
