Robinson had seriously good skills: speed, power, timing, accuracy, footwork etc. You name it, he had it.

Also, fighters back in the day fought up to 15 rounds every week or so. Fighters these days fight up to 12 rounds maybe only 2, 3 or 4 times a year.
