No Jeff is really not decent. By what definition?
I like Jeff. Seems like a nice guy. Let's name anyone he beat that was even REMOTELY good? The Corpse of Robin Reid? Okay, i guess but thats' a stretch. Jeff is wasted potential and a never was. Like I said, nice guy, easy to root for, but on the ground logistically the guy is not good.
You don't care where I watch the fight...but Kelly pavlik could not give up? Let me ask you an honest question, no trolling: Have you boxed before? Like honestly in a ring with a trainer? even sparring.
Look up something that teddy atlas talks about it, it's called the "non verbal contract". this applies to all contact sports, but especially to boxing. Basically summed up it's this:
"In a fight the two fighters are trying to impose their will on each other. Either stylistically, physically or mentally. This will continue on until often times one fight will give in to the others will. But he won't go down. He doesn't want to be exposed to the crowd. So he will stay in there, doing just enough to keep the ref from stopping it, to keep fighting back just enough to last till the end. But he's already conceded his Will and the win."
If you've ever boxed before you know this is very true. Think about this for a while, go watch the Kelly vs. Hops fight, take a look around Roun3/4 and let me know what you think.
I like Kelly a lot btw, and was hoping he'd win since it would have been good for boxing in the US.
If you had been following boxing around then Byron Mitchell was widely (and correctly) considered a power puncher but little else and ALREADY on the decline. He was one of 10 guys the Ring thought would not close out the year keeping his title because of his poor life and death showings in the fights leading up to the Joe showdown (and the ring was correct).
I like Kessler. Let me know when he shows us he's a great or even very good fighter by fighting someone with a pulse. You can't use "I'm SURE HE WILL SHOW YOU" as a notch on Joe's belt. There's nothing to back that up other than opinion. Once Kessler takes out grade A comp and proves himself as th man, sure then use him to up Joe's resume. As it stands it's a good win for Joe, not great.
I don't see you point about Roy or Bernard. Joe waited what, 10 years to unify, defending a trinket belt all along. Suddenly he wanted to unify? Okay.
What year did that happen? if that was his goal why was he interested in calling out Bernard?
Joe didn't just beat mitchell tho, thats the point he dominated him in the first round and then stopped him in the 2nd, yeah mitchell was mainly a slugger but still had boxing ability, if he didn't he wouldn't have been landing on ottke.
Calzaghe ruined jeff lacy, before the calzaghe fight lacy was actally quite a dynamic, fearless power puncher. He now boxes with fear in my opinionComment

Stop saying you like every fighter so it appears your not being biased, I have had 21 fights my fighting weight is 10st, but dislocated my shoulder a year ago and haven't fought since, your argument is weak, there is no way I can prove i box and vice versa so why bring it up? That theory generally applies in fights when there is one fighter clearly a level above his opponent, usually when a good young prospect is on his way through the rankings. Journeymen normally have this sort of mentality as they get use to losing. Kelly pavlik was not trying to survive, I have watched that fight at least 5 times, and kelly is clearly demoralised around the mid -rounds but giving up? If you think that its clear you have never been in a boxing ring. More importantly if you applied that theory other fights ie chavez would have never knocked out meldrick taylor, among many...many other fights

No, that argument doesn't apply to journeymen. That applies to all human beings. It's natural.
As for Pavlik I'm not insulting his courage. Give me a break. I'm just telling you what any boxing expert would see watching that fight. You can see it in his eyes. He realizes early that he's completely outclassed. That's why Bernard didn't get winded. It's much easier to beat on someone who isn't punching back.
If you know what you're talking about, tell me what ONE physical attribute /strategy Bernard used mainly to defeat Pavlik's youth and handspeed (no the answer is not Ring smarts, i'm talking about speed, power etc.)
And stop saying I like ever fighter....what? I do like Kessler well enough and Lacy. I have no grudge against either. Am I a fan ? No. But I think Kessler especially has potential. If you read some sort of bull**** forum psychology into that, that's your problem. I'm very honest about what I like and I don't like and don't give two ****s about what others on this forum think about me.
Facts are facts. That's all there is to it.Comment

You are an idiot.
Also since you have the brain of a gnat, I'd like to re-iterate, this thread is not about Calzaghe, but a response to his fans.
Pretty simple, but of course you missed the point, again.Comment

Also joe unified when the other champions actually wanted to fight him, don't you think he would have wanted to unify in 2 or 3 years rather than 10 if he had the opportunity to?
Fact is none of the other champs wanted it during that time, ottke, beyer wanted absolutely nothing to do with joe, it was only when lacy came along and kessler that were actually willing to fight that joe finally got to unify the belts. That was joe's main frustration, it was only the former champs who were willing to fight cos they had nothing to loseComment

You have yet to name any fighter you like that is not British. Or offer any valuable insight into fighting, or any fighter.
You are an idiot.

When I have said Joe Ducked Sven I'm only joking to piss off trolls.
But Joe could have probably still gotten a fight with him IN germany, he just would have had to KO the guy.
Your point is reasonable other than one main fact you gloss over: The WBO was a joke belt back in the 90's. If not a joke, at the very least a fringe belt. Hence how other fighters you talk about never fought him.Comment

Errrr...the reason that you dont hear(or read) about my regard for other fighters is because you only seem to pop up in threads that mention joes name or decide to make your own on any given day that there is no hot calzaghe action for you to feed off.Why did you get your ban btw?
We'll try this again, name some US fighters you like or respect.Comment
