As for the highlighted you need to go back to my FIRST Post and read about what Tarver did.

Calzaghe wasn't known. He wasn't the star. Period. You take the Tarver route to MAKE those fights happen if you really want them. That's it.

I'm not "blaming him". I'm just telling you that conveniently Just with HIM those fights never happened.
so now your degrading every fighter as garbage, Jeff lacy is not garbage he is decent. Kelly pavlik is a human punching bag? What does that make jermain taylor? I don't care where the hell you watched the fight, Kelly Pavlik is not someone who would give up in any fight, especially considering he is an undisputed undefeated champion, who is also an idol and champion to youngstown.

richie woodhall was an olympian who lost in the quarters to, "oh let me think" ROY JONES! Let me tell you woodhall was a good fighter as a pro

charles brewer was slightly past his best id say but that is debatable when calzaghe fought him and was a good fighter. He was a long time sparring partner for hopkins and allegedly gave him hell in sparring.

Byron mitchell was a decent fighter who clearly beat ottke in germany, and calzaghe got up of the floor and ko in round 2

Im sure when kessler gets the big fights he'l show you and everyone that he is a very good fighter

You can't just dismiss these guys as bad fighters

How can he do what tarver did when he himself was trying to unify the smw division, he needed bernard to come up in weight to fight him as he has always struggled to make smw so no chance of making mw. Roy was doing this thing at lhw neither fighter was in his weight class!

Just for the record I don't think calzaghe would have beat roy or bernrard in their prime, but does that mean he has a **** resume? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Nice. Would liked to have been there to see it live. It was the first Calzaghe fight I ever saw (watched the live broadcast). I honestly thought Eubank would blast JC outta there so I was a bit shocked when ol' Chris was on his back in the first round. There was so much tension in the ring that night. Very good, entertaining fight!

Loved the battles between Benn, Eubank and Watson, btw. Those are still some of my favorite fighters. Watson could have been something very special, I think. Such a shame what happened to him.

No Jeff is really not decent. By what definition?

I like Jeff. Seems like a nice guy. Let's name anyone he beat that was even REMOTELY good? The Corpse of Robin Reid? Okay, i guess but thats' a stretch. Jeff is wasted potential and a never was. Like I said, nice guy, easy to root for, but on the ground logistically the guy is not good.

You don't care where I watch the fight...but Kelly pavlik could not give up? Let me ask you an honest question, no trolling: Have you boxed before? Like honestly in a ring with a trainer? even sparring.

Look up something that teddy atlas talks about it, it's called the "non verbal contract". this applies to all contact sports, but especially to boxing. Basically summed up it's this:

"In a fight the two fighters are trying to impose their will on each other. Either stylistically, physically or mentally. This will continue on until often times one fight will give in to the others will. But he won't go down. He doesn't want to be exposed to the crowd. So he will stay in there, doing just enough to keep the ref from stopping it, to keep fighting back just enough to last till the end. But he's already conceded his Will and the win."

If you've ever boxed before you know this is very true. Think about this for a while, go watch the Kelly vs. Hops fight, take a look around Roun3/4 and let me know what you think.

I like Kelly a lot btw, and was hoping he'd win since it would have been good for boxing in the US.

If you had been following boxing around then Byron Mitchell was widely (and correctly) considered a power puncher but little else and ALREADY on the decline. He was one of 10 guys the Ring thought would not close out the year keeping his title because of his poor life and death showings in the fights leading up to the Joe showdown (and the ring was correct).

I like Kessler. Let me know when he shows us he's a great or even very good fighter by fighting someone with a pulse. You can't use "I'm SURE HE WILL SHOW YOU" as a notch on Joe's belt. There's nothing to back that up other than opinion. Once Kessler takes out grade A comp and proves himself as th man, sure then use him to up Joe's resume. As it stands it's a good win for Joe, not great.

I don't see you point about Roy or Bernard. Joe waited what, 10 years to unify, defending a trinket belt all along. Suddenly he wanted to unify? Okay.

What year did that happen? if that was his goal why was he interested in calling out Bernard?

Yeah I was 13 or 14 at the time my uncle took me, calzaghe was tough as nails that night took some big shots, I didn't know much about joe and I really wanted Eubank to win, calzaghe was very raw defensively and would have got knocked out if he didn't have such a good chin. Yeah Watson was special great shame

I'm glad you took the time to read what I wrote and crafted this clever point by point response.

And ignored the parts where I have said Joe is a very good fighter.

                Nice comeback.

This right here is a prime example along with Mr. Crust, Samurai, of the kind of Joe fans I'm talking about.
