Why do people always make these ****** thread and then others in it have ****** responses. Ive even seen the media say dumb stuff like this. It is so unfair to compare Floyd to SRL when one guy started at WW and was a huge WW while the other guy started at 130. I remember Manny Steward even said something dumb like Floyd doesnt compare to Hearns & SRL. You could tell the way he and others say it, there thinking just about them fighting head to head at WW but thats so unfair to look at. If you want to compare them then you do it in a P4P sense. Compare SRL at WW to Floyd at 130 and you will easily see that Floyd holds his own if not is better. Then as Max Kellerman always says, Floyd also moved up in weight far better then SRL & Hearns did. He's a much better fighter at the higher weights then they are and at 130 he is just as good if not better then they are at WW.

Then I hear idiots on here talking about Pac & Duran. You cant just compare 2 fighters in black & white without looking at the facts. All guys have different body types. Oscar started at 130 also but he was always a huge guy. Both Duran & Pac have always been big guys who just killed themselves to make weight. Floyd wasnt like that. Floyd naturaly moved from 130 to 135 but ever since then he has clearly moved up unatrualy just to chase Oscar. He never was a big guy. At LW he came into the ring at 139, at 140 he came into the ring at 144, and at WW he comes into the ring at 148. Meanwhile Duran was so big & strong even at 154. Pac was fighting at 130 and weighing 147 pounds in the ring. Its night & day to compare him to a guy like Floyd who just doesnt gain weight. You guys really have to stop trying to downplay Floyd like that, even when you know it doesnt match up. Tell me that SRL at WW is way better then Floyd at 130. Tell me that. Tell me that SRL at LHW is better then Floyd at WW. Tell me. He's not

Sugar Ray Leonard would dominate Pretty Boy,not even close! An even more exciting fight would be Mayweather against Tommy Hearns, WOW!! If anyone could test Floyd's chin it would be Hearns who still has to be concidered one of the hardest punching welterweights ever. It's just to bad he didn't have a chin to go along with all that ability.

dlt, i agree with you, but skillwise, i could see floyd making sugar ray look really ******. again, people look at the sizes, and how dynamic ray leonard was and forget how technically gifted floyd is to the highest degree. his defense would offset ray's combos because of how good floyd blocks. when have you seen srl fight a guy with blocking abilities like a floyd jr, and don't say floyd sr, because he wasn't on his son's level in overall skill, and he knows it, and he made srl miss a lot of shots also. another trait floyd has over leonard, is his ability to counter off of the block, and he carried that up in weight from 130 to 147 well. you people have to open your eyes a little better than you do. i mean, ray was faster with handspeed, footspeed, very fluent, good defense, hit harder, but floyd's ring smarts is what would win him this fight. floyd's ring smarts at 147 were very good, you know why? because his ability to make his opponent use their pace against them was extraordinary, and he did that in 3 fights there. i mean, they both are 15 round fighters, floyd paces himself very good to go 15 rounds, and he makes mistakes but it's hard to pick up on them because of how elusive he was on defense. he had the much better defense and countered better than ray. he was overall more skilled and just as athletically gifted as srl. he fought smarter against bigger guys, that makes a difference and in turn dominated them unlike srl. it's kind of unfair to take a guy who started at 130 and put him against a guy like srl, who besides his obvious amazing skillset, was much bigger than him, but if you could put any great fighter in that position and have him win, it's floyd,, because of how truly extraordinarily gifted he is as a fighter. he was that great.

sugar ray was far superior in ring generalship and intelligence...thats the key to unlocking floyds much vaunted defence. i think floyds 'style' has become one dimensional and stale. it consists of backpedaling, potshotting and a few pet moves. srl had a much more dynamic and complete repertoire. he had mastery of both sides of the coin, defence and attack. sugar's speed and power are well documented but it was the intelligence with which he utilized these assets that would have shattered floyds self delusional invincibility.

I think it would be an intersting fight, but Sugar Ray would have to be a heavy favortie because he is the much bigger man, not to mention that he is atleast as skillful.

I think Jr. would do a lot better then Sr., Floyd Jr. would definetly hit Sugar Ray with some pretty right hands, that said Sugar Ray would gobble them and throw blows through them.

If it started out as a boxing contest I think that Floyd would have his moments, but I think that Sugar Ray would turn up the pressure and really get after Floyd.

I say Sugar Ray wins, in a pretty exciting fight atleast until Sugar Ray takes control then Floyd would probably fight to not get his ass whipped so he could make it to the end.

Great big man beats great little man~

At 147 Floyd stands a better chance than Cotto.

Not sure if he would have "killed" him but I certainly think he would have won. He was definately the bigger and arguably the better man. Even though I do think Sugar can be slightly overrated on here at times. Still a legendary fighter though for sure.
