Well the people, like Dirk, who criticise Pavlik are just biased Brits who think Americans need to cross the ocean regardless of circumstance.

The bottom line in this fight if that Abraham, if he wins, will do so by knockout. He isn't going to win rounds against Pavlik by covering up for 2 minutes and throwing a few flurries. So if he is depending on a knockout it should not matter to him whether he is fighting in Germany, USA or the goddamn MOON for that matter.

Pavlik, on the other hand, probably needs a decision to win. He may be able to knock AA out but Abraham covers up so much he doesen't get hit clean. It would be 10 times dumber to fight AA in Germany than it was to fight BHop.

Not to mention how bad it will be for boxing if Pavlik went over there, won 10 rounds clearly, and lost a Split Decision.

No they have not said so, but if you read between the lines they are setting it up to reject Pavlik's offer and then make him one he will reject.

to paraphrase Sauerland's press release "Yeah yeah we will fight Pavlik in America BUT, ahem!, we would prefer to make him an offer to fight over here and than act like we don't need him when he rejects it"
