You're welcome to come have potato salad with me anytime......just don't mention Hopkins/Tito.
Stop drinking our rum!!! Nah good post man. I think most puertoricans like to consider the island another country with rich traditions and great culture. I am new here, but I didn't think this was a bait thread, and already two people have vouched for BlackIrish.
One thing not up to debate is that we've both helped each other out tremendously as Nations, and that it's a friendship that should be embraced by both sides.Comment

I speak whatever the **** I damn want. Second we want to be indepent because we have been, your laboratori ****, since the 1920s. third, our economy, always will be good, do to our position geographicaly. We are the port of the Americas, you highspeed. Third **** you to the fullest!!!!!!!!!
You idiots talk like everything we get if ****ing free. We have fought in every ****ing war since the late 1800s. We have the US ARmy biggest infanry battalllion and with the bigger balls too. The 65th iinfantry division. They fought in every war that US ahve had till the 1970s. They were the first in and the last out. And i know what I speak, Im a ****ing military man too.
S
I'll put my 2 cents here because it's a matter close to my heart... First of all, when you say most us us want to be independent, you are wrong. This Most of us people you talk about are less than 1% of the population..and I really hate it when one person such as yourself tries to speak for most of us thinking you know best....EXAMPLE: 50k registered voters voted for independence last election...out if 4 mil people...so please...educate yourself.
Second, I understand all you have stated about the military service and all. Trust me man, I'm a retired Tech Sargent in the USAF, born and bred in Ponce....and joining the military and serving my country is one of the best and proudest things I've ever done. And when I say my country, I mean the U.S. of A., because that's what we're part of. Every time they do a status census on the island, independence has never even come close to being an option. Why? Cause were not ******. All this talk about strategic points and such is moot because so are the D.R. and Cuba..which both are much larger and can sustain themselves with agriculture...which we don't have...and their standards of lives are nothing compared to ours...
So please...for future reference...when you talk politics...talk about your own feelings....not what you think or believe you might know about MOST people..
I'm proud to be an American and my children will have a better life and a chance to do something better because they are U.S. citizens. I'm proud of my heritage and culture and I know who I am and where I come from. Bring another question of status to us and see what happens...Comment

Puerto Rico really needs to make a priority out of protecting its borders as well...its getting ridiculous how people are disrespecting PR's borders to get to the USA and to PR.Comment

Immigration has always been a major problem for Nations that offer hope to the hopeless. If that's what it takes, then I can support that. Though I always feel bad for the Immigrants in these types of situations. I'm only a second generation American myself, it wasn't long ago that my grandmother arrived on a boat from Belfast on Ellis Island.Comment
