Wow, this is one ******ed thread, the starter clearly knows **** about Puerto Rico's economic and political issues. To begin with, the Puerto Rican citizenship was created over a century ago in 1900, before the American citizenship was imposed. Yes, "imposed", because Puerto Rico's legislative branch and resident commissioner opposed it at the moment. Second, there is no "cheese" to the limbo thing that the US has run since 1898. Puerto Rico doesn't have full sovereignty and as such they can't have free-commerce deals with other countries, consequently more than 90% of the things consumed are brought in from the US, being subjected to the world's most expensive cabotage laws. Naturally, this has been messing Puerto Rico's economy for years, since being an archipelago, everything imported arrives by sea. And finally, the US are forced to give Puerto Rico several billion dollars per year, but US interests literarily draw twice from Puerto Rican interests per year. Who is drawing the "cheese" here?Comment
