The Rubio fight was just a tune-up to build up Pavlik's confidence... but yeah you are right he needs to step it up a little bit and fight some bigger competition.

As far as his middleweight title defenses go, Pavlik is another Joe Calzaghe fighting complete bums

exactly. anybody can take the Roy Jones or Calzaghe route and spend most of your best years fighting tomato cans rather than moving in weight to make good fights

Head to Head sure, but does that apply to all other fighters? Beating someone does not make them a better overall fighter, just in comparison to that man. So if you are only comparing Pavlik and Taylor, you have to rate Pavlik better. If you compare a whole bunch of fighters it does not work like that although the loses would definetly count against Taylor, but there are a lot more variables then just that.

i dont call taylor a bum. Probably better then all of calzaghes resume because he was undisputed and fought hopkins, wright, and spinks already. You gotta take hopkins out from calzaghe and pavlik, because they both fought him. Hopkins made them both look bad, but calzaghe somehow came out with the w...........

But both taylor wins destroy calzaghes career easily.

wow. I'd love for all those people who criticized Taylor for fighting THESE guys to show me how Pavlik is even half the champ Taylor was
lol only 2 of those you mention are middleweights. and the 3 that arent middleweights taylor struggled mightily.

ouma and spinks were brought in to make taylor look good but he looked like ****t instead. that's why he gets crap for his resume.

Taylor beat those people but look **** doing it, that's the problem. He's got a damn good resume on paper.

I dont think people criticized Taylor's choose of opponents, but more so his lack of application against those fighters.

I personally feel that niether Taylor/Pavlik do those MW titles justice. There is a lot of history behind those belts.
