the day Pavlik hires a real trainer is when he will truly become an elite fighter!
I don't know, you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks.
And Hyperion, thanks for getting me started talking about Juan Manuel Marquez again. I had to go an kick Cotto out of my avatar and use it to worship Dinamita once again.
Too many haters and nuthuggers around here right now, according to some, Cotto beat a god, according to others, Cotto is a walking corpse. According to some, Pavlik was as impressive tonight as ever, according to others, he's afraid of Abraham.
Time for some real talk.
First off, what did you expect? Both Cotto and Pavlik were coming off their first career losses. Did you expect them to go fight someone Elite? It rarely happens.
Cotto and Pavlik both did what they were supposed to do tonight, and that's take care of business. These were easy warm up, confidence building fights, and they were both favored to win by knockout.....and they both delivered.
It's good to see them both back in the saddle again.......unless of course you're Mexican/racist against Puerto Ricans/European/Anti-American/a member of Margarito's extended family/a member of Arthur Abraham's extended family/or just an all around douche'.
The competition tonight was thin, no doubt about that. But in a rebound fight, that's exactly what is expected.
Well put, although the same could be said about these forums after any fight.
I thought Cotto came in and did what he had to do. It wasn't overly impressive, but I like how he just patiently stalked him down and focused on pin point accuracy. Then when he caught Jennings, he looked very good in finishing him off.
As for Pavlik, I wasn't impressed at all. If he had mixed it up more, he could have finished him off a lot sooner. It was the same old one two one two one two, get him to the ropes and pound on him. Even on the ropes, he could have thrown combinations to the body and more uppercuts.
Also Pavlik's defense showed no improvement either. He stills relies on his Tall frame, so he can parry shots off with his gloves. However when someone gives him good angles, it's very easy to hit him. Rubio had a very good end of round 6 because of it.

I think Jack Loew could use some help with Pavlik, the double jab, straight right hand is good, but if Pavlik could add a left hook after the right (when it is open) it could devestating, he could have gotten rid of Rubio faster with that anyways.
I doubt Pavlik should get rid of Loew all together though because they have a comfort factor together. The trust that Pavlik has in Loew is pretty apparent and that is something that can no be replaced quickly.
