Let's try to keep **** in perspective here

Too many haters and nuthuggers around here right now, according to some, Cotto beat a god, according to others, Cotto is a walking corpse. According to some, Pavlik was as impressive tonight as ever, according to others, he's afraid of Abraham.

    Time for some real talk.

First off, what did you expect? Both Cotto and Pavlik were coming off their first career losses. Did you expect them to go fight someone Elite? It rarely happens.

Cotto and Pavlik both did what they were supposed to do tonight, and that's take care of business. These were easy warm up, confidence building fights, and they were both favored to win by knockout.....and they both delivered.

It's good to see them both back in the saddle again.......unless of course you're Mexican/racist against Puerto Ricans/European/Anti-American/a member of Margarito's extended family/a member of Arthur Abraham's extended family/or just an all around douche'.

The competition tonight was thin, no doubt about that. But in a rebound fight, that's exactly what is expected.

I thought Cotto delivered tonight. Pavlik looked like the same Pavlik but I thought he cudda got rid of Rubio 2-3 rounds earlier than he did. Only thing I'm mad about is that this was PPV. I don't pay for fights period but this being a PPV card doesn't help.

I won't lie, it was a ****ty card to have on Pay-Per-View. No other way around that.

I don't think Kelly could've gotten Rubio out of there too much earlier than he did. I mean, for most of the fight, Rubio was in his shell. Pavlik really didn't have many openings for the first 4 rounds, and he didn't start sitting down on his shots until around the end of the 5th.

Could he have ended it a round or two earlier? Probably. But I'm not going to slack him too much considering he still got the KO.

I've seen both extremes tonight. According to some, Cotto is "back" and he'll "Jennings" anybody he fights at 147. I've also noticed some people saying Cotto's career is basically ruined since Tony, and as soon as Miguel fights a live body, we'll all notice how ruined he is.

In all seriousness though, you are correct. They both took care of business so they could move on to bigger and hopefully much better things. Rubio was really just fighting to survive, and taking out someone in that mode that has some toughness can be very hard.

According to some, "he's back!". Which, first off, implies that he left.....Which he never did to my knowledge. And secondly, implies that the Jennings fight is going to catapult him back to the top....which it won't.
