i made blog and my first post was about the choice of opponents. i don't get down with calling guys like rubio and jennings bums. i know how hard it is to excel in this sport and earn a living with your fists. they aren't bums, but they were clearly picked for a reason.

We would need to remove all Promoters and Sanctioning bodies from the sport, and then and only then, things would improve.

Cotto and Pavlik are both active champions. They are willing to fight anyone and fight often. They both get huge credit from me for that. They don't fight just once a year. They fight who is available and who they are told to fight from the sanctioning bodies. They are doing what is asked of them and unfortunately just players swimming in a promoter filled mud pond.

You name me other fighters who were lining up to fight Margarito and Hopkins before they did as of late. Not many!!
First of all, Ive been in boxing for over 30yrs. I also won the golden gloves in 1987 and i own my own boxing gym in south Florida...Just because you CANT see a point does not make you right. Im surly not trying to right or wrong. simply basing fact as i see them. I was tought to fight guys better than me so my game will improve and i learn from mistakes. Simply saying nothing good comes from tune ups. Why risk ruining your career because a one shot changed that. Its ******. So if you want to give someone credit for that go ahead, youeill see one day.. not me. Been there done that.

you were a amateur right? well, losing as a professional is
big deal, you can't just go to every big boxer and say "i want to fight you, lets go", tune ups give you confidence and gets you ready for the big fights. saying nothing comes from those tune ups is just ******.

So you would rather see a fighter who was at the top of his game, jump right back into the mix against another top echelon fighter after suffering a devastating beating? Are you ****ing kidding me? So you would rather see a fighters career get completely derailed with another devastating loss knowing full well in the fight after that loss, they will not be there 100% mentally or Physically?

You have to be joking. You are just playing us right? LOL None of this can be serious from you.

Bum is one of many figure of speeches there is for an opponent of lesser quality B or C class opponent. If you know how hard it is to excel in this sport than you should know that the word bum is meant for disrespect in the fight game.

When fighters lose for the first time the usually get gimmies.

Oscar, Hatton, Lewis, Cotto, Pavlik, Khan the list is endless.

Although Lazcano looks P4P compared to Rubio or Jennings.

I can't see why Cotto wouldn't jump at the opportunity for an easy rebound win and to claim a vacant title.
And Rubio was Pavlik's mandatory, he's not the worst fighter in the world.

C'mon man, look at Boxing from the fighters' perspective for a minute. It's nothing new for fighters taking a devastating loss to kind of start from scratch or take a tune up fight to see where they're at competitively and mentally. Plus both guys have already mentioned who they're looking for next, so what's the big deal? They're going to be fighting top quality opponents.

You mean to tell me If a fighter loses to a bum you would give him more credit if his gallant effort fell short to a top echelon fighter??? Out of the two which one would hurt the worst?? When you train after a lost for a guy you know you can beat sometimes MENTALLY you dont prepare like you would if you were preparing for who you know were a very good fighter.. If not true print it out go to as many boxing gyms you want and get the opinion of every trainer. NOT PROMOTER> Many fighters in the past chose not to take tune ups.... Why you never have heard of that???
