You forget boxing is also a business. Promotors have to build up their fighters again against lower risk opposition to get more cash, it also builds up the hype for a bigger fight down the line. If they put them against elite fighters straight away they might lose, which could ruin their careers and ruins the promotors chance for mo money.Comment

It's only a we tune up after a loss , plus at least Cottos was for the wbo belt and he probably got cheated in his last fight so deserves a we break plus Pavlik's also just moved down from 170 . It's just one of them thing's in sport , you've got to take a we step back to move forward . Your body needs time to recover after taken a beaten .Comment

In your seemingly infinite dreamland you are acting like Pavlik and Cotto are breaking some sort of rule. Guess what again? So does everyone else. Pavlik and Cotto have both taken huge risks from time to time in their career. They unlike most championship caliber fighters at least faced off with some huge risks.
So they both took what most would call normal defenses or challenges for comeback fights. After bad losses against a couple of those huge risks, how dare they!!Last edited by deanrw; 02-22-2009, 12:11 PM.Comment

Guess what? You don't have a clue. You act like this is some sort of tournament. Fighters are investments to everyone around them. Fighters on Pavlik's and Cotto's status are cash cows.
