To be fair Rubio was the #1 Contender and is ranked #8 by the ring magazine at middleweight. Yes he's limited as **** but it was better then Jennings IMO.

Honestly middleweight is pretty dismal outside of Abraham and Pavlik.

Rubio was actually pretty highly rated in a weak division, unlike Jennings who was lower rated in a very strong division.

I'm not really a fan of either of these fighters, but they have both come off devastating losses which also happened to be the first of their professional careers. I think they are allowd to take an easy fight to get their confidence back. Plus, promotors need to do this in order to get their fighters popularity back and make it seem like they are a big force in their respective divisions again. You can't moan at them for taking an easy fight considering the circumstances.
