All Calzaghe had to do was turn up that night... any top ten LHW would beat Roy now.

Style wise Calzaghe is a harder fight for Hopkins. Jones is stationary and doesnt throw many shots. Any version of Hopkins (post 2000) takes Roys soul and stops him.

I would argue with you but Ricky Hatton being P4P #2 is crazy enough for me to not take on the task...

Hopkins always shows respect to the men who beat him eventually. If it's a close fight, in which he feels he won, it just takes longer.

Roy always had Bernard's respect because Bernard knew and felt that he had lost that one.

With the Taylor and Calzaghe fights, there is a case to be made that Hopkins should've gotten the nod in any of the 3. They were all very closely contested fights with a lot of swing rounds.

Even though he felt he won, Hopkins eventually became the bigger man and wished Jermain well. Infact, after beating Tarver, Hopkins leaned out of the ring and had some very kind words for Emmanuel Steward to give to Jermain about Jermain's reign at 160lbs. The next week, Hopkins was front row, cheering Taylor on against Wright.

The same thing happened here with Calzaghe.

You can call him a sore loser, a spoil sport, whatever you want. But I imagine you guys would've felt the same if you had such a close fight, and a split decision loss to a guy who you felt you had beaten.

                  Real talk.

Not really he was 39 when he fought Calzaghe, and was already brutal ko,d twice, by fighters calzaghe is better than, and calzaghe couldn't knock roy out, but there is alot of roy fans out there, and they go overboard sometimes, but I think this fight is 50 50 who wins in there prime, roy could of been considered the greatest fighter of alltime if he kept winning, joe will still always be underrated by us americans.
