It does not take a special fighter to beat Floyd Mayweather it takes the right opponent.

I dont think it takes a special fighter to beat any great fighter. You just have to have the right style.

Roy Jones is always going to have close fights with B+ Southpaw counter punchers, prime of not.

Mosley is always going to struggle with a guy who has a jab to neutralize his speed and exploits his defence.

Trinidad is always going to struggle against a guy who uses lateral movement or jab to break up his rhythm so he cant get set to land his power.

A fighter does not have to be special to have your number. A lot of the guys who have caused upsets have not gone onto achieve as much as they should have done either.

    Honeyghan,Randall,Douglas,Forrest,Tarver,Golota etc.

Who would of thought DLH,Castillo,Judah would of done as well as they did against Mayweather ? Judah i guess you could make a case for because he is a slick, fast, lefty, but off the top of your head you would of expected Mayweather to walk all over DLH,Castillo, but he did'nt.

Im just trying to say that you never actually know how capable somebody is of beating another fighter by the naked eye alone. Or statistics come to that.

The real question here is, How do you get Floyd to fight a real threat this days???????

Styles make fights but even if you did get a fighter that caused a style matchup with Floyd,(not sure what style would be tough, May is very good)it would still take a very talented fighter to complete the job. With that said, it is going to take a special fighter to stop Linares. Can't wait till he gets the big time fights.

It'd take someone who can outsmart Floyd. Floyd adjusts to what you throw at him in the ring. When Floyd adapts the other fighter needs to show him something new as well. Or if u disagree...

It wudda taken Zab/Oscar with better stamina...Floyd edged Castillo with a torn rotator cuff 1st fight and beat him the 2nd fight.
