Yep, no question especially in NSBWould Joe be better respected by some people if he was American and black?
Would Joe still get his two or three hate threads per day on boxingscene?
Would all his haters like Flawless (Sugar May Floyd), danc1984, bsrizpac, DiegoFuego, chiyoko, El Dominicano etc feel the same way about him?

That's a lot of bollocks.
Calzaghe has been through his share of wars, with Brewer, Kessler, Bika, Salem etc. He had an extensive amateur career as well.
He broken his hand several times, and he's not as fast now as he was against Lacy and before.
Joe is retiring because he knows he close to being shot.
He was never cut in any fight before Kessler and Hopkins, and was never down until age 32 against Mitchell. He's been down in two consecutive fights now. He's definitely past his prime.
he was cut against Sakio Bika.Comment

Fighters are judged on the opponents they fought and the manner in which they won... unfortunately for Calzaghe he will be remembered for the fighters he didn't fight.
Calzaghe needed to answer questions inside the ring, instead he is now trying to answer some of them in interviews while in retirement.
Edit: Thats what i will remember him for anyways :PLast edited by Famoso Matador; 02-21-2009, 08:36 PM.Comment

You said that a black fighter wouldnt be happy with what Joe did or his belts and would have done more, implying that black people want it more and expect more from themselves then white people. That is "wow" worthy right there...Comment

Floyd is younger and in his prime. People expected him to fight Cotto and the like. Joe is old and has been slipping. Also, you lost all credibility when you said "White media." Your bias shows too much for this discussion to continue.Floyd gets slammed for not fighting Margarito..Cotto...Williams...clottey..and everybody since John L Sullivan..
Floyd could not get away with fighting the loser of an elimation bout the way Joe did..
Joe gets to duck Dawson and people support it..the White media included.
Did the White media push for Calzhage to fight Dawson the way they pushed for Floyd to fight Cotto or Tony????
NOPE
Joe gets a free to duck pass...a free to fight washed-up champs pass..
Black fighters don't get to coast and boast while not proving ****.
It's not our fault white fighters don't get respect..maybe you should take a hard look at the quality of today's white fighters instead of crying about the praise Black fighter get..and earned..and deserve.
White boxing is in trouble if ya'll think Joe Calzhage is a great fighter.Comment

lol go say that to chelsea ask them how much they miss essien or what Inter Milans team would be like minus Maicon, Arsenal minus Henry Vieira and Campbell you know **** all about football and boxing just log off foreverNot true at all. I've been to different European countries and black athletes are considered weak and unreliable in many areas.
Take soccer for example (most popular sport), in Europe (not sure about UK) they always joke about them because they're the ones that fold in critical matches.Comment

The catalysists of Manchester United are all white; it's a betting team.
Giggs, Vidic, Fletcher, Carrick, Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov etc...
Chelsea never won anything, neither did Arsenal despite having Henry in their team.
Inter won champions league in the 60s...
Your argument goes to waste.
And if you want to get technical, let's look at the positions and who the top players are;
Strikers;
Villa, Torres, Rooney, Berbatov, Eto'o, Drogba, Anelka...
I'd rather have the white ones in my team, they perform well in big matches.
Look at Torres vs Germany, and Rooney vs Liga.
Midfield/Wingers;
Ronaldo, Carrick, Lampard, Gerrard, Xavi, Ballack, Mascherano, Ronaldinho, Gattuso, Kaka, maybe Deco as well...
Same story here...
Defense;
Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Carragher, Evra, Cannavaro, Carvalho.
And here...
GK;
Is that worth mentioning? LoL!
I'll let you make a judgment.Comment
