    Mayweather - De La Hoya

To keep me awake last night before the Prescott fight started, I rewatched Mayweather - De La Hoya again.

I was wondering how you guys scored the fight and what your thoughts were on it. I had it 115-113 to Floyd.

One thing that struck me, seemed to be the lack of a gameplan on Floyd's part. Between rounds you could clearly hear him talking with Roger about how Oscar was going to tire later. It seemed his strategy to win was to wait it out until the later rounds when Oscar would tire. Thoughts?

What game plan?? Mayweather laid back and countered Oscar all night. This was one of Mayweathers easiest wins

116-112 Floyd. It wasn't as close as everyone made it out to be. Quite honestly, I thought Mayweather took it easy on him so he wouldn't ruin chances at a rematch. Oscar did little in that fight although I thought he did give fighters an opportunity to see perhaps a couple things that could be successful against Floyd.

        Easiest fight lol.

Mayweather looked very confused when Oscar kept using his jab. Like I told you yesterday in the Whitaker vs Mayweather thread, Floyd hasn't got a brilliant jab and can be beaten by fighters who have. If Oscar had kept sticking out his jab in the last 4 rounds he could have won the fight.

Btw watch the fight again, a lot of Floyds counters were being caught on Oscars gloves.

I had it 117-111. I counted punches that landed not HBO commentary or crowd noises

Yep totally agree there. I think he definately revealed some weaknesses in Mayweather.

#1 Vulnerable to a good jabber
#2 His low punch output really shows when a fighter can catch his counters on the gloves
#3 I don't like the way he keeps his left arm across the side of his body. Leaves him wide open for a fighter with a good jab
#4 Once he's been caught by a good few jabs, he brings his left up quite high and doesn't tuck his elbows in to his sides, therefore leaving him open to body pucnhes
#5 Looks very uncomfortable when fighters go to the body

When a fighter is as dominant as Mayweather, you wind up looking for the holes in his game that perhaps someone can take advantage of. What struck me in that bout was Oscar's ability to land the 1-2 over the top. Towards the end of round 11, he landed a searing one-two that shook Floyd a little. But quite honestly other than that I thought Floyd dominated while being economical.

Oscar stopped jabbing b/c Floyd started painting him with power shots in the center of the ring. Floyd could've ko'd Oscar had he thrown more punches, but that's not his style. FACT

                  I had it 116-112 Mayweather.

A clear win, but it showed some things that can be used against Mayweather at the same time, as you already said. The main thing is his weakness against a good, fast jab.

Delahoya won all the rounds in which he used his jab. And after seing what Manny did to DLH, I can't see why Mayweather or his *****s would be proud of such a boring performance.
