Calzaghe is 37. Maybe those elite fighters should have fought him 7-8 years ago instead of making excuses.

My only problem with Calzaghe was not fighting Pavlik and opting to fight Roy.

I don't by the Dawson isn't ready bull****, he 26 and there aren't many fights for him out there. Dawson may lose but he's more than ready.

So there was no point fighting Benard Hopkins who he beat with a split decision but it was sensible to fight Sakio Bika.

So no need to fight Glencoffe Johnson but it was ok to fight Sakio Bika.

So Roy Jones was washed up in Joe's own words and still it was alright to fight a washed up fighter. It was also fine to say that was Joe's best performance ever and Joe had to quit on a high.SO his high was beating a washed up figher who had been knocked out so many times in the past few years.

Apparently Joseph Calzaghe does not do rematches but he did with Mario Veit.

Interesting how many times Joseph got injured everytime before a biv fight. He even 'injured' his famous hand before the Roy Jones fight.TV stations in the USA called him 'no show Joe'.Those in the UK didnt want him.I dont remember Joe being on PPV in the UK yet even Amir Khan is on PPV,Lewis was and also Hatton is.

Let's be honest, how do you rate this guy called Joe Calzaghe?Really who did he beat? With his long career fighting 'the best' how much money did he make? How much did other fighers make

Manfredo was a means to the US market. He had been talking retirement for over a year, so basically you chat ****.

the manfredo fight was all about exposure in the US, i dont think anyone expected manfredo to be anything other than cannon fodder.

would you want a rematch with hopkins - the figt wont generate alot because the first one was a stinker and everytime hopkins faces a top guy he has a habit of making it a stinker. besides if joe wins he just beat an even more over the hill hopkins, the guy wont get anymore credit for it.

the sakio bika fight was a bit pointless at the time but over time it has actually turned out to be better pretty good win for joe than it was at the time, bika is now in the same bracket as other fighters like say edison miranda.

fight with glen were made a few times but due to injury the fight never came off, also glen johnson never really stayed or made a name at 168.

joe at the time did a rematch for 2 reasons a) there was a lack of other fights available and veit had worked his way back into contention. b) joe was younger then. when you're 35 years old and on you're way out do you really want to fight the same guys again or do you want to look for other fights that you know will bring out the best in you.

calzaghe is a modern ATG - deal with it.

Joe Calzaghe is a nobody in boxing. Nobody respects this guy because he dosen't deserve it, his entire career is a joke.

Calzaghe's record is certainly spotty but there are some inconsistencies in the initial post...

People bring up Manfredo as if he was anything other than a showcase fight (that went badly). Manfredo has more of a name than Dawson, certainly in the UK where the fight was largely being pitched. It was just a commercial bout.

So there was no point fighting Benard Hopkins who he beat with a split decision but it was sensible to fight Sakio Bika.
So you're saying he ducked Hopkins.... then fought him about a year after the duck?

So Roy Jones was washed up in Joe's own words and still it was alright to fight a washed up fighter. It was also fine to say that was Joe's best performance ever and Joe had to quit on a high.SO his high was beating a washed up figher who had been knocked out so many times in the past few years.
Roy was shot to ****... who WOULDN'T get their career-best performance beating someone who was shot to ****?
Apparently Joseph Calzaghe does not do rematches but he did with Mario Veit.
Forced to by the WBO as a mandatory.

Interesting how many times Joseph got injured everytime before a biv fight. He even 'injured' his famous hand before the Roy Jones fight.TV stations in the USA called him 'no show Joe'.
So you're saying that he used "injuries" to duck out of fights... then illustrate this by giving an example of a fight that he was in where he was injured???

Those in the UK didnt want him.I dont remember Joe being on PPV in the UK yet even Amir Khan is on PPV,Lewis was and also Hatton is.
Calzaghe was signed to a TV station that didn't DO PPV. Different TV station to the others.

With his long career fighting 'the best' how much money did he make? How much did other fighers make
So his ability as a fighter is measured by how much £££££ he made?

At the end of the day Calzaghe's mouth gets him in trouble. Because Dawson was ready.
