We generally get all the same results in these threads.
    Sugar Ray Robinson
    Henry Armstrong
    Willie Pep
    Muhammad Ali
Every once in a while we get a
    Roberto Duran
    Salvador Sanchez
    Pernel Whitaker
A couple of new schoolers come along
    Roy Jones Jr.
    Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    Then the Boxing Historians
    Harry Greb
    Sam Langford
And so on and so forth.
As far as I am concerned Sugar Ray Robinson is definitely the Greatest there ever was. There is certainly a handful of fighters cut from a similar cloth, but in terms of how good he was and what he accomplished he does stand alone.

i think whitiker was well beatable really. id definently rate mayweather higher.
Mayweather would get destroyed by Whitaker- he has better head movement more power and just as fast.

The problem is that mayweather has never been tested, I gaurantee Cotto could beat Mayweather. its just a style wise bad match up for Floyd

I dont know how anyone can honestly say mayweather was the best of all time hes in top 25 and that might be pushing it.

I have to say Ali he fought and nearly dominated the most popular division at its prime of fighters and this was while losing years of his prime

My grandfather would argue to the point of exhaustion for Joe Louis, and I believe the fact that his name has not even been mentioned in this thread is a perfect example of where he is coming from.
I have a tendency to respect, acknowledge, a value athletes that in my opinion have the (resume) or had to deal with a (higher level of competition) than anyone else had to. Ali, Sampras, and Magic are my number ones.

Actually, not bad. I think they are about Even. Hearns right hand was better than titos, but Titos left hook was better than Hearns!!!!!!
