I've seen a lot of Whitaker's fights, but I've only watched Benitez vs Leonard, Cervantes, Palomino.

You have a lot of boxing knowledge, what is your opinion?

At his best Wilfredo Benitez was a very good fighter, who gave alot of the top fighters good fights. But then i've seen him get floored 3 times against Bruce Curry, and go life and death with Bruce Curry x2. He also got a gift draw against Harold Weston, and was beaten to a pulp by Davey Moore.

Pernell Whitaker's win's this by comfortable UD but it would be a very frustarting night for Pernell Whitaker. I don't really think Wilfred Benitez's defensive style along the ropes would be effective against Pernell Whitaker, and plus Wilfredo Benitez was a bit of a hot and cold fighter.

Pernell Whitaker beat better fighters than Wilfredo Benitez, and reigned alot longer. I do think Wilfredo Benitez does get a bit overrated at times. No disrespect too the man he was a hell of a fighter and winning the title at 17 was incredible. But i do think Wilfredo Benitez would lose to alot of the ATG's at Welterweight/Jr Middleweight.

Benitez is puerto rican. If he would have fought at 27-32 years old, People would know him more for his punching pwer rather than his boxing ability. 17-23 isnt your power prime years. More like the speed years. I didnt have memory to see any of them fight but numbers and logic suggest Benitez would be the winner.
