    Pernell Whitaker vs Wilfred Benitez

Who would win in a fight between Whitaker vs Benitez, two boxers regarded as amongst the greatest defensive boxers of all time.

I've seen a lot of Whitaker's fights, but I've only watched Benitez vs Leonard, Cervantes, Palomino.

Man I think this would have been a boring fight. I love both guys but they were both defensive masters and that is not a good recipe for an exciting action fight. Who would win? I'm not sure. A prime Wilfred would have been tough for Pea. Not only was he a defensive and counter-punching master but he was a naturally much bigger guy than Pernell.

It sure wouldn't be Barrera-Morales IV! But for the purists, it would be very, very interesting. They're the two best defensive fighters I've seen.

yeah i agree.benitez was the bigger fighter and he could actually punch.

sweet pea was a small 147 and he wasn't the same fighter at 147 as he was oin the lower weight classes.

Okay, what about a catch weight. Perhaps 140?

Its hard to say. they are top 3 defensive fighters of all time. I might pick Benitez because he was a bit better counter puncher and a bigger guy.

But its very hard to pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Benitez was good but was not good enougth to beat sweet pea. Every think benitez can do, sweet pea does better plus he is southpaw
