Klitschko vs. Haye is Falling Apart, Negotiations Suspended

Wlad didn't have rematch clauses in his contracts with Sanders and Brewster. I remember he tried to get a rematch with Brewster in 2005.
Again, I don't believe a word from Booth, having heard the contradictions and nonsense he was coming out with when they were negotiating with Kevin Johnson, Barrett, Chambers, Mercer and the others last fall.

And what about Sanders? Where was the attempt to get a rematch then?

Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostThere are precedents for a Cruiserweight "earning his shot" before fighting for the Heavyweight title, notably Holyfield, but there are also many precedents for a dominant champion moving up in weight and fighting for a title immediately, without any tune-ups at all - e.g. Michael Spinks vs. Larry Holmes, or Bob Foster vs. Frazier, or Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton; and I don't see why either strategy is necessarily wrong. Haye is a gambler by nature and always wants to fight the best in the division, and good luck to him, I say, I think that attitude is refreshing. Maybe he'd do better if he had two more fights first, as you say, but most boxing fans would like to see the fight made now, and given his personality, I don't see what's wrong with that. As for the hate posts about his trash talking, it's obvious that's just to hype the fight, and he's doing a good job of hyping it, even if Booth is doing a bad job at the negotiating table.
I just think haye would be better equipped and stand a better chance of beating the klitschkos if he had a few more fights! He hasn't been in with a 'skilled' heavyweight yet.

Regardless of whos side you are on,this sucks mainly because Haye was in serious danger of breathing some much needed life into the most boring division in boxing,a division devoid of personalities or talent

NB - I think this argument about whether or not I'm a "nuthugger" has gone far enough, I'm sure others lost interest in it ages ago, so if you insist on continuing with it, I suggest we take it offline.Last edited by Dave Rado; 02-18-2009, 04:19 PM.

Haye would knock Wald out
there essitent to sign the papers knowing that will be his last fight on the top
if it gets made, biggest fight in 2009 other than Miguel Cotto/Manny Pacman

so if it was an eliminator haye should fight mccline to determine #1 but since wlad beat mccline haye is in line for a shot.maskaev was supposed to be next so why not masksev vs haye if this fight don't happen.I changed my tune on this.haye is entitled to a match with a top dog
