The fight was made solely because of money. And if you think Hatton didnt rise his stock beating Castillo, then you really dont have a clue.
    Still aint getting it?

    1) Who else of that stature has called Floyd out on HBO? I havent seen it before, maybe thats me.

    2) I Dont believe Hatton's stock rose so massively after the castillo fight, he became a massive star in America and all of sudden Hatton vs Maywether became a money fight. I dont think the castillo fight was even PPV. lol. Hatton vs Mayweather was a money fight before the castillo fight.

Ill get to the other point now.

Even after the Jones Loss to Tarver, why couldnt he chase Tarver (who was rated very highly at the time and was p4p) or get a win over a Glen Johnson or someone like that fighter, then make a name for himself and get some big fights?

Im tired of arguing this lame ass point. Mayweather is a businessman. He picks the easiest fights for the most money. Thats what he saw in Hatton. He saw Hatton build momentum and get a win over a recognised name, saw Hattons fans take over Vegas and realised the magnitude of the fight.

He didnt just suddenly get worked up becasue Hatton called him "boring". Kellerman specifically mentioned Mayweather in the interview because thats the fight HBO were pushing for. Mayweather even said after the fight "I wasnt gonna comeback but Oscar gave me a price that I couldnt turn down".

It was about money. Full stop.

It was a money fight before the Castillo fight, that fight didnt make the numbers go astronomical, it was a money fight before that fight and a fight that had been anticipated for years.

And if Money was everything to Mayweather, he would have taken the Oscar rematch and not retired.

Mayweather himself has said before he was pissed at what was said, that gave him fire to want to fight and go through hand therapy yet again to fight. (not saying money had nothing to do with it).

I respect the fact he left warren and that silly WBU belt behind and is making some proper fights.

He deserves credit for this, In his last 3 Fights, he took on the best of his generation in his absolute prime at 147 in the USA, took a comeback fight, then made the biggest fight with a top guy at 140 and now is taking on the P4P no1 again in his prime.

So I think by the end of it he would have fought 2 all time great fighters in 4 fights, that deserves credit.

The guy is fighting Prime Legends, unlike the other well known British boxer, who doesnt, and seems to get more credit.
The "0" is overrated. I agree with you.

Maybe he was busy getting the Lacy fight which at the time was way bigger than a Tarver or Johnson fight.

One of the reasons for Floyd's retirement, rest assured, was no doubt the fact he would never get credit AFTER the fights. One can hardly stay motivated if after fighting a 43-0 champion, in his prime who had everyone going after saying "lets ave 'im" and beating him by KO, seeing everyone from the ref to the ring post take his credit. This is not someone who was fighting 40 year olds desperate to have a big name on his resume, this was a 5 division world champion and happened to be as rich as they come. I'd quit boxing too in these conditions. Floyd didn't hired a team of writers to fill our ears and eyes with articles justifying anything, like his atg status or anything.

I think that was just before Tarver agreed to fight Hopkins, who moved up to make the fight happen. Thats my point, sometime you gotta move up weights and make the fights happen.

There's no excuse really for staying in your backyard and saying you will only fight in the big fights from now on, then fight Peter Manfredo in your backyard.

He might have been busy with the lacy fight, but im not sure thats bigger with a fight with Tarver who was p4p i think, and came off wins against Jones again, and johnson. But who cares.

The point is, I cant see how people excuse calzaghe for not moving up in weight, and going to america when its too late. The manfredo fight was a debacle imo.
