Not convinced ИATAS206, that Allen Conyers guy had him over to, so I have question marks about his chin to be honest.

he did but that was a like a gamboa flash knockdown kirkland was up at the count of 1 and then proceeded to murder the guy. He wasn't hurt at all.

Kirkland took bombs from Julio who is a big puncher and james ate them like candy. All of a sudden he get's TKO'd by a the japanese light puncher. There is clearly a difference there.

You honestly don't believe 2 years in prison with no boxing at all doesn't have an effect on someone?

Like Anne Wolfe said, if she was training Kirkland she would have worked his ass off in the gym for at least 3 months before stepping back in the ring. That was their mistake, he gets out of prison does just a little bit of training (not even enough to drop down to his proper weight) and he takes 3 fights in a month. That was a very poor strategy. He should have been training and sparring for months before fighting.

I still think he might get better if he does something drastic, I have no idea what he should do but he might get better punch resitance if he works harder. He looked did better with Wolfe. Plus handing him guys who are not in there to win makes it even worse. Berrio wobbled him a few times and it was like they asked him to throw the fight.

He needs to work hard and not fight every week.

At this point El Perro eats him like kibble.

Its been a whilst since I saw the Julio fight, but seriously, did Kirkland really take huge punches in that fight, or was he the one dishing out of most the punishment, putting Julio on his heels and robbing him of his leverage for his power?

If Kirkland was skilled enough to negate the fact he HAS to fight a high contact fight, then would that be a significant factor ? I dont see the coloration between time off and him being able to take a punch.

Julio landed some big shots on Kirkland, at least 6-8 big shots. Much harder then the shots he took for Ishida.

Really? If you don't take a punch for two years not even sparring with headgear and suddenly fight your punch resistance is not going to be the same.

When training a fighter is getting hit. It toughens you up. You build a resistance. If you never get hit the first real punch you take is going to do damage. Look at amir khan. When he was training in England the word was in sparring they didn't allow him to get hit in the face hard and he was sparring bums. He got rocked and wobbled all the time and of course nearly died against prescott. Now he spars bigger and better fighters, takes shots regularly from them and his chin is much improved.

I'm not saying you can completely fix a bad chin, and maybe kirkland's chin isn't the best, but you can certainly improve it and if you're not taking punches you're going to get KO'd.

All I can say is, I still have my reservations.

On Khan, I just think he was boiling down to a unnatural weight(130). DLH was down a couple of times due fighting at an unnatural weight imo.

Angulo, though I think he's been overrated due to his exposure on/promotion by HBO.

The fact is that in a poor division, neither have done anything of note. Ok, there hasn't been a wealth of top competition for them to face, but even beating someone like Spinks or K9 would be worth more than what either of them has achieved so far. Angulo lost against the only top fighter he faced, and Kirkland seems like someone who will either have to curb his style, making himself less effective, or always be at risk of getting hurt before his opponent.

Both seem to need a firefight to win. Kirkland is better at forcing his opponent in to one, but Angulo (due to his toughness) seems more likely to win as long as he can make it his kind of fight.
