That fight wasn't clear cut in the least, much less Hopkins walking through Wright.

You can try and spin the slow pace of the fight as Hopkins executing his game plan, but the truth of the situation is that he was holding on because he was tired. If I recall, there was a round when Hopkins clenched more times than he punches. That is not smothering Wrights work rate, that holding on because you are too tired to punch.

The fight was awful. Wright looked slow and blown up at the weight, Hopkins looked old and tired.

How could it have been a draw when B-Hop eliminated Winky's jab/ straight (pretty much his output)

Your watching the fight with goggles on, bro. Hopkins had Winky walking into his trap all night long. Winky got the jab going for a few of the middle rounds, thats it.

But you are right about Hopkins, he did look like **** in that one, as did Wright. It's Hopkins most boring fight by far.
I scored it 116-112 as well, giving Wright rounds 3, 4, 8, and 9. Wright didn't really score that cleanly except in those rounds. I'm not really wanting to get into discussing this fight, but I thought it was decent. I thought Hopkins Eastman was by far Hopkins worst fight. Oh boy.

he did have a bad night against quintana the first time. he looked flat just like pavlik did against hopkins. fighters have good night and bad nights.
it's also fair tyo point out; against margarito p-will was at his best. for the first 5 rounds margarito was at his worst. i gave williams the first 5.... 1 in between and the 12th round (as i think almost everybody did, to win 7-5)
the margarito that beat cotto would have beat any paul williams.
if paul beats winky which i dont think he will, it will be a good step up as winky is by far teh best boxer (and a southpaw) that he's faced.

Let's look at Paul's last 5 fights, shall we?...........

Verno Phillips - Solid fighter, but nothing more than that. Phillips had 10 losses when Paul climbed into the ring with him, was 39 years old, and his best win was a close split decision over Cory Spinks. Williams TKO's him in 8. Who didn't see it coming?

Andy Kolle - The definition of a tin can. Had a 17-1 record against less than stellar opposition, and his best win was who? Matt Vanda? Williams TKO's him in 1. It was to be expected.

Carlos Quintana - Solid former World Champion, not long ago he was favored to be Cotto when they fought. Had a 25-1 record at the time of their rematch, his best win was an unexpected UD schooling of hot young prospect Joel Julio. Williams TKO's him in 1, not what we expected at all.

Carlos Quintana - See above. Only this time, Quintana kicks Williams goofy looking ass around the ring for the full 12 rounds and takes his title. Williams loses a pretty wide UD. (I scored it 116-112)

Antonio Margarito - Not exactly the world beater he was hyped up to be, eh? Was 34-4 when he met Williams, pre-Cotto, and pre-handwrap controversy. Williams wins a clearcut UD and takes Tony's title.

Now who did he fight before them? Santos Pakkau? Walter Matthysse? The blown up corpse of Shamba Mitchell?

And who is Paul fighting next? The bloated corpse of Winky Wright, a guy who Hopkins walked through in 2007. A guy who hasn't had a fight in almost 2 years by the time April rolls around.

Is this the record of a man who, according to Max Kellerman (and many fans here) "has two weight divisions paralyzed with fear"?

                      I certainly don't think so.
                      very well written piece bro!

but id watch paul williams freaky looking asss over Boring-hop fight anyday!

many people feel winky beat boring-hop that night they fought.

also max likes to hype and exaggerate thats his style of commentating. who else can he exaggerate or hype besides the freaky lookin tall asss punisher?
