Didnt say its a joke but that they need same day weigh-ins. Thats the only way you will find out who the real champions are. When a fighter makes weight but comes in 15-20 pounds more on fight night thats bs.

I remember castillo being overweight during the weigh-in in his 135 division rematch against chico then chico being overweight one fight later and now this? Guzman being overweight then campbell being overweight. 135 pound is cursed.

I don't agree - in the "Nate wants respect" thread yesterday, nearly all the posters gave him respect. But he's made a real ass of himself now, and even more so after giving that interview yesterday. Telling it like it is isn't hate. He's made an ass of himself.

This is a whole nother topic. Same day weigh ins and the medical issues associated with them were one of the big reasons they stopped having them.

The theory was, well, we can't stop people from cutting a massive amount of weight in a short time, we'll try to dimish the effects by letting the fighters get a chance to rehydrate so as not to further diminish their physical state and add increased risk to their health.

In theory same day weigh ins are nice. In practice not so great.

Thats the whole point of same day weigh-ins. If you wanna try and have a huge advantage by fighting at a weight you shouldnt be at then you will pay the price when youre drained against your much smaller opponent. This way fighters will fight at their supposed weight and it will be skill versus skill instead of skill versus size.

This is the only reason people said Marg would beat Floyd, he cant, but its because of size, not skill. This is the biggest problem actually in boxing, fights should be won on seeing who is the most skilled, not because a fighter is bigger than another fighter. This is the notion behind pound for pound.

The problem with this is that 'paying the price' can mean brain damage or even death.

No it isnt, but it will keep fighters like Marg at 154 and above like it should, he struggled with Santos because Santos is better skilled, this is what it should be all about, skill, not size.

And this is historically what happened. In a lot of fights.

It's easy to bandy around terms like paying the price but sometimes they have to protect people from themselves.

Ring deaths were one of the reasons that went away from same day weigh ins.
