Bad example. Santos outweighed Margarito by 10lbs on fight night, and was on his way to defeat before the cut happened.

But who has the better skills? Thats what Im saying, how many people wanted to see Marg fight Floyd? Plenty....I asked many how do they see Marg winning, every single answer was because Marg is bigger, never a strategy based on skill. Complete opposite of what pound for pound means.

Ring deaths were one of the reasons that went away from same day weigh ins.
Ring deaths happen all the time so thats not the reason.

          Wow, I'm surprised by that.

The case is so ironic I can't even find the words to describe it.

In retrospect it would've been much better for J Diaz to win, it would've been better for boxing. I was feeling slightly dirty for cheering for Campbell in the fight against the awesome Diaz, and now I feel like I need a few showers.

It was a medical determination that led to these standards. They felt it was less of a risk to be given more time to rehydrate in x amount of time rather than 12 hours.

The thing is medically neither are ideal.

But for championship type fights, regardless of same day or day before weigh in's., I honestly feel both fighters weights and physical condition should be monitored closely for at least a month in advance.

The issue is fighters are gonna break the rules and jeopardize their health no matter what, I just feel it could be worse with same day weigh ins.

I think if a fighter knows there is same day weigh-ins then he will fight at a weight where he doesnt have to kill himself. To me there is more harm in having a fight a day after the weigh in, we have seen so many times where one fighter is grossly way bigger than the other fighter, Clottey/Corrales, Gatti/(Insert Name Here), the list goes on and on.

But there were some fights which changed this thinking of same day weigh ins.

Here is a good article on it http://www.boxing-monthly.co.uk/content/0008/two.htm

The thing is I like two tier weigh ins, and physical monitoring the most.

Guys are always gonna try to cheat either way though.

I honestly see more harm in same day weigh ins but if monitored effectively, they might be possible.

We will have to disagree on this one, think about it, no way would we allow Miranda in a ring with Corrales, but we let Clottey fight him, who was a supermiddlewight at fight time, there is hypocrisy in that.
