Evidently he wasn't beaten by Hopkins, otherwise he would have lost.

As a Brit you are dumb as hell.

Wrong. Of course in Wales or Europe so to speak he will be remembered.

In the states where opinions and ass-holes matter he will be forgotten. One person mentioned Prince. WELL to the average fan, they know NOTHING of him. Same will go for Calzaghe. Its not hate its truth.

I congratulate him on his good career.

Of what is left of the supermiddleweight division will anyone challenge Kessler? seemingly not, Calzaghe once again was expected to lose and won...Now Kessler is called over rated.... He would bounce Jermaine Taylor off the floor like a basketball.

As for Hopkins, Joe took him lightly (at his peril in my opinion) did he win the fight? I think he did by a round, Hopkins faded badly in the second half of the fight and spent more time trying to spoil Joe's work rather than doing any of his own.

Hopkins against a plodding Pavlik was masterful, but he was allowed to be! What do you think Calzaghe would have done to Palvik if hopkins can do that?!?!

He will be remembered in Britain for sure but maybe he should have gone to the states earlier in his career to get the exposure....blame Warren for that.
i totally agree with this post.

Where is this small town of Europe you seem to be refering to? Cos I know a large percentage of Europe who have never even heard of Joe Calzaghe, let alone will continue to worship him in 10 years. Its not all one country you know?

He won't be remembered like Hagler or Leonard, but he'll get in the Hall of Fame whether you like it or not, and if getting in there isn't being remembered then I don't know what is.

As for only American opinions mattering, that's just xenophobic.

I kinda think anyone who thought Hopkins won that fight, wanted him to win before hand and ego's just won't let people say I was wrong Like Hatton fans blaming the ref. If their guy doesn't pull it off, then it has to be the scorecards, or the Ref.'s fault. And if anything Hopkins pulled a Calzaghe the way he beat Pavlik and let his hands go like that. The people who don't think he will be remembered are mostly the people who said Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins even Jones would beat him. I do wish he had gone out fighting Pavlik, however they do say when you have so much hate coming your way that is a true sign you've made it to the top.

With his unbeaten record and 21 defenses there is no doubt in my mind that he'll make it into the HOF and he deserves that.

Also, I never said "ONLY" Americans opinions matter. I said "in the states where opinions and ass-holes matter he will be forgotten".

Your sig is great. I like how the articles are all based out of the UK. Kind of a one sided story no? No hate. Joe beat Jones and Hop right.... You shouldn't have to defend his victories.....
