as a brit ican understand the hype behind joe calzaghe but lets stop with the hero worship, he was beaten by the old master hopkins and going further back was lucky to get the nod over a prime robin ried (not the shell lacy fought), hes been a great fighter but shouldnt be mentioned in the same catorgrie as robinson, armstrong, leonard, hagler, duran, bhop

I find the Cazaghe hatred on here a little odd. Personally I wasnt a fan until the destruction of Lacey a fighter the amercian public said would destroy Calzaghe...NOW you say he is over rated over hyped etc etc BUT who exposed him? Joe Cazaghe.

Of what is left of the supermiddleweight division will anyone challenge Kessler? seemingly not, Calzaghe once again was expected to lose and won...Now Kessler is called over rated.... He would bounce Jermaine Taylor off the floor like a basketball.

As for Hopkins, Joe took him lightly (at his peril in my opinion) did he win the fight? I think he did by a round, Hopkins faded badly in the second half of the fight and spent more time trying to spoil Joe's work rather than doing any of his own.

Hopkins against a plodding Pavlik was masterful, but he was allowed to be! What do you think Calzaghe would have done to Palvik if hopkins can do that?!?!

He will be remembered in Britain for sure but maybe he should have gone to the states earlier in his career to get the exposure....blame Warren for that.

I kinda think anyone who thought Hopkins won that fight, wanted him to win before hand and ego's just won't let people say I was wrong Like Hatton fans blaming the ref. If their guy doesn't pull it off, then it has to be the scorecards, or the Ref.'s fault. And if anything Hopkins pulled a Calzaghe the way he beat Pavlik and let his hands go like that. The people who don't think he will be remembered are mostly the people who said Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins even Jones would beat him. I do wish he had gone out fighting Pavlik, however they do say when you have so much hate coming your way that is a true sign you've made it to the top.

With his unbeaten record and 21 defenses there is no doubt in my mind that he'll make it into the HOF and he deserves that.
