WESS, you honestly think Calzaghe has no fans in the states or something? I'm from the USA myself originally. Trust me bro, Joe won't be forgotten in 5, 10 or 20 years like you're suggesting. There's nothing more I can really say cause it's just a difference of opinion, but let's see...

Come back 5 years from now and bump the thread.

Lolz @ mentioning Hopkins alongside those illustrious names.

Robin Reid was lucky JC was injured, otherwise he would have lost a wide UD.

Ahh, and Joe was also dropped by the old master Byron Mitchell. Let's not forget that one...

Anyone can get dropped. It's what you do after you get up that matters.

In 5 years from now Mikkel Kessler is ATG or HOF, if he pick up the right fights and get a promotor who doesnt pick bums to fight him, then Calzaghe surely will be remembered as the 1 notable loss on his resume.

They're not one sided - if you read them, you'll see. He got little or no press coverage in the US back then, so it's obvious why they'd be UK articles, but they're not biased articles at all.

I'm not defending his victories, I'm the first to admit that Hopkins was past his prime and Jones was a shell of the all time great fighter he used to be, when they fought; it's just that some haters keep posting that he avoided Jones and Hopkins when they were in their primes, and that he wasn't willing to travel, so I found proof that those things aren't true about him, that's all.

I agree too, there was no need for that.

Of what is left of the supermiddleweight division will anyone challenge Kessler? seemingly not, Calzaghe once again was expected to lose and won...Now Kessler is called over rated.... He would bounce Jermaine Taylor off the floor like a basketball.

As for Hopkins, Joe took him lightly (at his peril in my opinion) did he win the fight? I think he did by a round, Hopkins faded badly in the second half of the fight and spent more time trying to spoil Joe's work rather than doing any of his own.

Hopkins against a plodding Pavlik was masterful, but he was allowed to be! What do you think Calzaghe would have done to Palvik if hopkins can do that?!?!

He will be remembered in Britain for sure but maybe he should have gone to the states earlier in his career to get the exposure....blame Warren for that.
no cant blame warren for Joe being a ***** and not fighting in the states.. Joe is his own man and if he truly wanted to test himself he would of came to the states a long time ago.. Joe doesnt get too much credit from me.. He has some skills, but he lost to a 43 year old hopkins, and beat a shot 40 year old jones.. that's not impressive.. if you take away those fights who do you got? Overrated one dimensional Jeff Lacy? Mikkel Kessler?? or mybe Peter Manfredo??
