I'm not defending his victories, I'm the first to admit that Hopkins was past his prime and Jones was a shell of the all time great fighter he used to be, when they fought; it's just that some haters keep posting that he avoided Jones and Hopkins when they were in their primes, and that he wasn't willing to travel, so I found proof that those things aren't true about him, that's all.
That is true Joe didnt get much of anything then, but its also not just Jones and Hops fought either.

Warren told Joe when to fight, where to fight, who to fight while Hop and Jones are just hard headed pretty much about anything and everything, especially money. I mean look at them and the rematch they never had..... compared to Joe, they lived next door but the fight never happened. Was Jones scared or think he would lose? I think not. Neither wanted to take less money. Probably Warrens train of thought.......

Anyway I know what you mean. I always hear the same the thing about how Jones and Hop ducking Joe. To me if your "THE MAN". You don't duck nobody. If someone wants to fight "THE MAN" you bring it to "THE MAN". Jones was "THE MAN". He earned the title, just as Mayweather and now Pac did(which would be an awesome fight if you ask me). If you want the title you bring your game to "THE MAN" Talk to Tarver.

But I don't take sides on that subject anymore. ALL parties are at fought in my book. But hey "at the end (the VERY VERY VERY END) of the of the day" they fought and Joe won end of story really.......

but its all matter of opinions, like you said......

"come back in 5 years and bumb the thread"... Whats going to be scary is a 50 year old HOP still wanting a rematch with Joe in 5 more years..... lol
Joe probably has more fans in the USA than a lot of people think. He is rated highly by a lot of people in the business too. Guys such as Bert Sugar, for example.

LOL @ the B-HOP comment. True dat.

LOL! He'll still be in training when he's 80, and will still be calling for that rematch.

They'll meet up at the Hall of Fame one day, and sure as eggs is eggs, bhop will be calling him out.

Anyone who thinks Roy ducked Joe is a complete idiot. But all I'm saying is Joe did genuinely try to get that fight and that he was willing to go to the States to fight him, contrary to what a lot of people say about him; and it was just boxing politics that stopped it happening (HBO weren't interested in it), which can't be held against either fighter.

In Hopkins' case, though, while I wouldn't use the word "ducked" (I'm sure he thought he could beat Joe), he definitely didn't want the fight in 2002, IMO. To wait until terms have already been agreed and then suddenly double your purse demand isn't a genuine negotiating tactic, in my opinion, it's just a way of getting out of the fight while saving face; especially as he didn't take another big fight at that time, he just took a mandatory against a nobody that paid far less than Warren/Showtime had offered him to fight Joe.
