Ofcourse he will be remembered, he has LOADS of fans, and he will always stand as one of the greatest to ever come out of Britain.

I remember when I saw Mikkel Kessler Vs. Joe Calzaghe, first couple of days afterwards I was mad and sad... But I couldn't help thinking that Joe was really unique and he had something extra. He's not the ordinary boxer with big muscles, he's akward, coming forward and hitting a lot. He is on every second of a match, and for me he is very exciting to see.

    Great career you've had Joe.

    (And nice article!)

Decent article that. Not really overly complimentary or critical, so if people still get funnny with articles like that then they must really have insecurities where Calzaghe is concerned. People whom say he'll be forogtten in 5-20 years really are delusional, to the point they think merely them 'wanting' him to be forgotten, and themselves likely to, translates to most other people. So quite self centred really.

A boxer whom is certianly next to Lewis either side, as one of Britians best ever, does not get forgotten about 5-20 years later. Get used to it.

It wasn't just that he was the first to expose Lacy (and arguably permanently destroyed his confidence), it was more the way he did it, putting on a boxing masterclass the like of which is rarely seen. Taylor also beat Lacy convincingly but didn't look anywhere near as impressive when doing so.

I agree. No matter how they paint it with lyric it's always gonna look like Joe went in to rob the bank and out in a hurry. True story.

Lets get some perspective here.People still remember Alan minter in England, and his claim to fame was being chopped into small pieces by Hagler.People also fondly remember Barry Mcguigan who won his WBA title off an old Eusebio Pedroza only to lose it a short time afterwards to a bum in the shape of Steve Cruz.I think its safe to say that Joe Calzaghe will be remembered for a year or two this side of the pond, and as long as there are plenty of bitter idiots a la these forums, well I dont think that lot are going to forget him in a hurry after commiting the cardinal sin of beating Bernard hopkins in america

Calzaghe haters are still bitter over the ass whooping and humiliation he gave to the great black hype Jeff Lacy who was supposed to "destroy" Joe Calzaghe. The amount of **** talk and Lacy supporting on these forums before it happened was unreal. Then Calzaghe made a fool out of most everyone here and they are still bitter about it.

I wish I could have seen the quiet, slack jawed looks on some of the racist blacks here on this forum, as they helplessly watched their boy get picked apart and whooped by a european white man.

And then, all of a sudden, they dismissed Lacy as a bum and threw him under the rug. Predictable as ever.

Then he beat Hopkins and embarrassed Roy Jones. Ouch!

as a brit ican understand the hype behind joe calzaghe but lets stop with the hero worship, he was beaten by the old master hopkins and going further back was lucky to get the nod over a prime robin ried (not the shell lacy fought), hes been a great fighter but shouldnt be mentioned in the same catorgrie as robinson, armstrong, leonard, hagler, duran, bhop

Calzaghe is miles better than Prince. I remember Prince today even though he retired 8 years ago. So to say he will be forgotten in 5 is idiotic.
