Why wouldn't he use them in sparring if he was planning to use them in a fight? Don't you think that he would have to get use to how they feel before a fight? Think about it. It would feel a lot different than regular wraps.

Freddie Roach's quote to Brian Kenny:

"One of my kids from my gym who was sparring with him had a broken orbital bone in his eye. Someone relayed it that they use it in training also. They say it protects his hands but it's not right."

For this exact reason. I'm sure he HAS used them in sparring, but I feel like he wouldn't do it often in fear of this exact thing happening. If he used them in sparring all the time and his sparring partners ended up being busted up left and right it would raise a few flags...

Here is a quote that ended up on the cutting room floor.

"It was a typical sparring day, it was my last sparring day because I was fighting the next week. It was the second round, I took my first head gear off, a Grant, I couldn't see, it covered too much of my face. I put on the Winning head gear, not the one with the football helmet but the one with the padded cheeks."

WOW! And he still had that much damage on his face? Imagine him wearing no headgear his career would really be over.

why would Margo use illegal wraps in sparring? makes no sense.. nothing is on the line in sparring.

Holloway didnt even said anything bad against Margarito. He didnt deny or confirm the illegal wrap. He just said his side of the story, he's the one who almost got his career shorten.
