I preferred the SKY commentary for Mayweather-Hatton over the HBO commentary.
British commentary vs American Commentary

HBO
Jim Lampley is the best in the business, no one brings as much passion for the sport to that mic as he does.
Say what you will about Max Kellerman, but he is a knowledgeable person who is a fan first and a commentator second, and that's a good thing.
Larry Merchant is creepy.
You'd be hard pressed to find someone with a better mind for the sport to have on commentary than Emmanuel Stewart. It's happened more than once where he's correctly predicted the outcome of a fight to almost the very minute.
Lennox Lewis has the experience as a fighter to put himself in that situation and visualize what he'd do. Usually it's a double jab.
Showtime
Steve Albert almost like Lampley, just not on the same level. Good voice to listen to especially when there is action going on.
Al Bernstein is smart and informative, and not nearly as creppy as Merchant.
Jim Grey is a prick.
ESPN
I really like Teddy Atlas, I know not many people are too big on him here at these forums. But he's a guy you could learn a lot from and his "keys to victory" are very informative.
Bob Papa is very good and will eventually make a great successor to Lampley should he ever step away from the main stage. I really like his work on FNF and BAD.
BTW, yes I have heard Sky Sports commentary before and I just didn't like it. It's basically just a matter of where you come from I guess. The American HBO team is by far the best in my opinion, so don't get on my ass about it. If you like Sky Sports or whatever, fantastic. None of us are either right or wrong. So let's not turn this into a US vs UK circle jerk.Comment

Look how poorly they commentated on Hatton's loss to Floyd. Teddy Atlas is awful
I prefer American broadast when watching American based fighters and British commentary when watching British fighters. dont ask me why.Comment

I have to say the Yanks are great with the comentary. They get overly excited and dramatise everything but I like it like that. I'll take HBO PPV over Setanta any day.Comment
