Hypocrits, Lack of Class, Idiots ...

No, not Carl Froch's entourage. The complete numpties on here who are having one final go at the current SMW and LHW #1 who has gone almost a lifetime without being defeated and has finally called it a day.

Joe Calzaghe is past his prime. WAY past his prime IMO. He was on the cusp before Kessler and was clearly on the slopes during BHop and Jones. The fact he still managed to pull out the wins in each case (despite Plan A not working in any of the fights) is a testament to his ability.

Should he have fought on? For me, Dawson was the only fight out there but a) it didn't bring any money and b) he was fighting Tarver. The fact of the matter is that there's always a contender wanting a fight. Always. There'd be someone after Dawson when he beat him.

Right decision. Right time. Good luck Joe.

I think it is pretty obvious Calzaghe was showing signs of wear and tear during the Hopkins and Jones fight. Calzaghe has been involved in some wars and has gone a lot of rounds. Hopkins has never been hit that much, and Jones was always cautious. People seem to think Calzaghe is a 27yr old.

Exactly. I guess a lot of the critics only saw his last few fights and not the wars against Eubank, Mitchell, Reid, Brewer and Woodhall.

The haters, spammers, trolls and morons that post the BS about Calzaghe just want to see him lose, even if it takes him fighting every new contender until he's 50.

When you're no longer hungry to train to fight at the elite level it's time to hang 'em up, for any fighter. I've never seen a positive outcome for a fighter who fights past his prime and who's no longer hungry, but is just fighting for a paycheck. It will always end bad since boxing is such a mental sport.

If he was clearly on the slopes during BHop and Jones then what the **** were they? And what does that say?

It says that a past prime Calzaghe beat a past prime BHop and Jnr.

did you guys know calzaghe was never cut in his whole career, in his 4 of his last 5 fights he was cut in all of them. the only one who didnt cut him was manfredo.

that shows to me he is way past his prime.
