    No.

It was televised by HBO with Fran Charles doing the commentary, I have the video.

He knocked Jefferson down twice though.

        They indeed do.

I've seen almost all his early fight - he fought a lot of big, crude, hard-punching but otherwise limited opponents like Gilberto Williamson, Carlos Monroe and Phil Jackson when he was coming up.

Their punches didn't seem to affect him much. Wlad was completely focused on offense back in those days, and had as many early KOs as Tyson over similar opponents in his first 20 fights.

His chin is not good, it's mediocre, but his defense makes up for it. Wlad's chin is not world class, but I wouldn't say it is bad.

I'd toss Wlad into the same pool with Terry Norris, Joe Louis, Thomas Hearns, etc. Wlad has an average at best chin, but his offensive skills and natural size advantages help him overcome that to a degree.

That's sounds about right. His chin is about halfway between Floyd Patterson's and Oliver McCall's.

Why should I be impressed with Wlad not being knocked down in his first 22 fights or whatever. Aren't those supposed to be mismatches anyway?

I was thinking of DaVarryl Williamson.
