Being in the top part of the game now for 5-6 years and fighting on the big stage, I think he knows how the rankings work as well or better than you do. If he were to say "Once I become the best pound-for-pound fighter according to The Ring Magazine's rankings , how much higher can I go?" I would agree with you. But he didn't. Hatton is a down to earth guy and he will believe that he is the P4P best when he beats 'THE MAN'. Simple as that. The rankings and boxing politics will not matter to him and that's the way it should be.

And on the Tarver issue: NO you don't come up from one notable career win and KO the reigning P4P best by a lucky, eyes closed haymaker and expect to be the P4P best. That is far from what Ricky Hatton has done, mind you.
ok mr old veteran poster... lets make something clear man... we are merely arguing ok? no foul words right? so... the problem with you and hatton is that you think the pound for pound numero uno is a title... that its a belt... no its not... it is a RANKING... you dont get it by beating the man... you work through the ratings to get you there... and isnt it contradiction on your part by stationg your point on the tarver issue? what if hatton beats pacquiao WITH A LUCKY SHOT? does your argument still hold true about the man beating the man? thats the point man...
