I think it's fair to say that neither fighter would beat each other up "badly". It would be a close fight, no doubt.

This is what i said in the other thread the other day.

Some of the fans make me laugh they really do, Pernell Whitaker wasn't entertaining ? try watching more of his fights. I could name you atleast 10 of his fights that were entertaining.

Watching him use his amazing reflexes to avoid punches is just masterful/exciting to watch, Pernell Whitaker also always did something different in every fight. So he was always entertaining to watch and at Lightweight he would often throw 90 punches a round.

Floyd Mayweather was also pretty exciting at the lower weightclasses, and again i could name you 10 of his fights that are entertaining. But anyway onto this fight i don't really know.

They both only have 1 opponent each who sort of fought like them, Roger Mayweather is a bit like Floyd Mayweather but nowhere near as good. And Zab Judah is kind of like Pernell Whitaker without the reflexes/defense/concentration/.

I thought Pernell Whitaker handled Roger Mayweather pretty easily, except the knockdown he got caught with by being to over confident leaving his chin exposed. And despite Floyd Mayweather struggling early against Zab Judah, i also think he handled Zab Judah quite comfortably aswell.

If this took place at Lightweight then i can see it going two ways, Floyd Mayweather leading because he had more power than Pernell Whitaker. And he would take more chances because he could stop opponents at the lower weightclasses.

And if Floyd Mayweather can't hurt Pernell Whitaker then i can see Pernell Whitaker, outworking Floyd Mayweather on the inside. And lets not forget Pernell Whitaker was a good body puncher so he would land on Floyd Mayweather, alot more often that any other Floyd Mayweather opponent.

And lets also not forget both men are very underrated inside fighters, its hard one to choose because it depends really on who leads. Both men i feel have no real advantage over one another, so its too hard to pick IMO.

This is tough to say, but i'd pick Sweet Pea.

The thing is this would be a guy who's just as if not more patient then Mayweather. Mayweather does not like to engage first and i think that is his weakness. Thats why zab was doing well the first half of the fight, because mayweather was coming to him and getting countered.

I think its a tossup. One night Floyd could win another night Pernell could. People say Floyd had trouble with Judah. He may have had some trouble but he sed himself Zab was a front runner. Floyd wasn't opening up until Judah started to tire. And sometimes Pernell didn't let his hands go enough. I thought Pernell could have did more in the Oscar fight. But neither guy has an easy night. And someone gets a SD.

I'm referring to Floyd 135-140. Not the extremely defensive 147 Floyd.

Neithe guy beats either "badly" though.

Floyd Mayweather, C'mon Roger gave Whitaker a little troouble, Roger trains Floyd, and Floyd is way ahead of his uncle on boxing talent.

Some may disagree but I think Floyd's the more complete fighter. Pernell depended on his reflexes for his defense like RJJ. Floyd uses the shoulder roll and other tactics. Pernell beat the better competition but I think Floyd is more gifted and has more tools at the end of the day.

No Whitaker boxed rings around Roger and had him down and had him hurt more than once. All Roger did in the entire fight besides getting an asswhoopin was catch Pea once, thats it.
