I think its crap all that UFC stuff but it is really catching on. Its well promoted and stuff to but the actuall fighting is a bit boring and also looks a bit gay but i guess its all real technical stuff that they are doing

Lesnar and Liddell are the only thing I'll watch in MMA. In fact, I could probably get into it more if they introduced a mandatory count for groundwork - like a 20sec maximum or something, after which any hold should be broken up and both fighters must return to an upright stance. Should a fighter not make it back up from that break, they lose. That would eliminate all the gay hugging on the mat for 5mins straight - instead, there'd actually be a flow to it.

Oh, and Bonjasky from K-1 is cool too. That whole organisation is cool (no groundwork).

how do you score an MMA fight? Does jumping on one's back considered a score? is attempting to do something a score too? all I see in MMA is a bunch of "trying to make something happen". I can't believe people like cheering almost doing something when nothing has happened 4:15 minutes out of 5.

You really can't sent up anything definite in 20 secs. By doing that, you eliminate any ground fighting, making the fight into a Shooto match.

Gary Shaw instituted that rule and it was awful. The owners had to almost stage an intervention to get him to repeal the rule. It also became the first steps into Standgate.

Good point. Some holds need time to lock in and make effective.

OK, what about a 1min rule? After that, stand up and fight.

10 point must based on a checklist round per round.

                    It's judged on:

                    Striking
                    Grappling
                    Aggression
                    Control

                    Let's take BJ/GSP.

If the match when the full five, GSP would have won. His jabs and kicks did minor damage, but helped set up takedowns. The takedowns and ground and pound helped fill the striking/grappling requirements. With his wrestling, he neutralized BJ's escapes and set ups. He was also always moving forward when he was standing, so he earned the Control. Finally, he was always in motion and always trying to finish. He took less breaks and was always in a dominate position. Agression was won by GSP.

Therefore each round, GSP got a 10, while BJ got a 9 or an 8.
