I asked a prospect who had sparred both Pacquiao and Margarito who hit harder....

Anyone who knows anything about boxing will say speed and accuracy kills - look at all the greats, they all have this. Margaritos main assets were an iron chin and great engine (.....plus.... add plaster related gag here....!!) not power.

Anyway, Hatton has been in with THE most accurate, straight puncher in the world. It didn't work out that well for him! But Manny is no Floyd, and the experience of being in with the best has taught Ricky alot - why do you think he's changed training regimes etc. I think Ricky can win this fight, He knows Pac hits hard and fast and will improve his head movement and catching of straight shots as he knows mauling and grappling a man with such immense stamina won't work.

I expect a great fight, and if Ricky believes in his main strengths (quick jab, body work, intelligent in fighting) he can win this.

I think David Tua hits harder than the average cruiserweight.

If he hits like a CW why does he only have a 66% KO rate at 130?

Either a 1/3 of 130lb'ers have developed 200lber chins or the prospect was facing a crap CW.

You missed my point, I wasn't trying to say that David Tua was a cruiserweight, what I was alluding to, was what if that Hakkad guy were to have faced a cruiserweight that had a David Tua type built, a low center gravity kinda guy, like a fullback in football. He'd probably be singing a different tune.

          Asian,

Why don't you try this with dudes in the gym.

Get a strong puncher that is around your height & size have him throw hooks to your body at full force.

Now, get a guy who is much taller than you and have him throw hooks to your body at full force.

I'll bet you anything, that shorter fighter will come out being the stronger puncher.

Now that you've felt both guys' power. Get a chair or a stool and you stand up on it, and have the tall guy hit you again, I'll bet you anything his power is going to be different compared when you were just standing on the ground.

It's all about leverage, my friend. Since Hakkad is closer in height to PAC than he's to cruisers, he was feeling PAC's punches full on.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I spar with dudes of all different sizes. I sparred a 280 pound heavyweight with 50 fights 2 weeks ago and my nose is still sore from an uppercut I took. I've never felt the effects of a guy my size for 2 weeks.

I don't like allowing anyone have free shots at my head or body, that **** doesn't appeal to me. I understand completely what you're talking about, though.

A 280lb person hitting you is a whole different story. I thought we were talking about a welterweight who was comparing a natural-welter(Margarito), and a cruiserweights power compared to a mini-welter(PAC)

Again, it also has to do with which shots Hakkad was getting hit with. Usually, if I'm fighting a much taller opponent, I don't worry much about their hooks, 'cause they're usually just arm punching. Uppercuts, on the other hand, are just generally painful compared to other punches.

Especially when you're preparing for punches coming around the sides and you put your guard up and catch an uppercut to the nose. Isn't much you can do about that.

But I agree, I was surprised that I took the body shots as well as I did since I don't like them in general lol

Asked about Hatton's power, here's what he said:

"I don't want to be rude, but I wouldn't know because he barely touched me."

He must have been a murderous puncher in the lower weight classes, thanks for the info.

                      who said that?

It'd be a nice touch if it was Castillo.

I don't think Hatton is a big ****er apart from his left hook to the body and that leaping punch that is the most idiotic punch that any world-class fighter has ever thrown, and get's him hurt, more often than not. Damn near decapitated Carlos Maussa with it though. lol
