Dawson's HBO Contract

HBO will look to capitalize on Dawson sooner rather than later. They're hoping he looks good against Tarver, real good. My guess is that after that, Johnson would only be a fall-back option. They'll look to get a bigger name first for a fall date.

So I find it odd he's leading the poll in most likely to face Dawson.

In terms of most likely, with that and Calzaghe still quite possible retiring of facing someone else, Tavoris Cloud whom will be a mandator AFAIK, regardless is the clear most likely.

Yeah that takes sense as of today. But after he beats Tarver on HBO it will raise his profile and popularity. And they will offer more money for him to face a Calzaghe/Hopkins; and wouldn't want to buy a Cloud fight. Johnson would be backup for them, not sure if Taylor could happen since he's on Showtime. And Kessler who knows.

Tavoris Cloud hasn't done anything yet since his win over Julio Gonalzez and he's rumored to face the winner of the Woods vs Muriqi match which won't happen until February 14. So Dawson is basically free to fight whoever he wants after Tarver. I'm still thinking it's going to be Adrian Diaconu or Glen Johnson.
