we'll see if this actually happens...i'd rather see Ward fight Dirrell. it's kind of like a Lacy/Taylor dynamic. we waited too long for that one, and I'd like to see these two tangle before Glenn Johnson hurts this kid's career for real.

Codrington should in NO way be ranked ahead of Ward. Period.

It's about time he stepped up. We have another gold medal winner from 2004, Alexander Povetkin, who's been mandatory for a world title shot for a year.
Povetkin is 29, and Ward is 24. big difference.

anyways, this is a huge step up if Ward does take the fight. giant. Its a very big risk for him to say the least, but if he can pull off a win then his status will be raised tremendously.

Odd that this fight is even being discussed. Ward is a super middleweight, and Johnson is a Light Heavy.

Johnson isn't just some step up fight. He's in a completely different league than anyone Ward has faced so far. This is not the fight I'd be looking for if I were him. Johnson always comes to a fight in shape, and if Ward isn't careful, he's going to end up on the wrong end of a KO.

I would just be glad to see Glen Johnson in the ring again. He is a great entertainer, warrior and someone I have no problem cheering for.

This would be a very interesting fight and i fight that i would like to see. Andre is looking to make that next step up in class and fight a fighter who has been tested at elite level, and passed. Glen is a vetran who fought some of the best of his era and is a former world champion and #1 LHW.

It would be a reall step up for Ward and a really stern test and maybe a little risky. But would be a great scalp on his record if he could do it and would immetiadly push him into world title fights and fighting world class fighters.

              Lets wait and see.

If a deal can be reached, Ward, a 2004 Olympic gold medal winner, would move up to meet Johnson at a catch-weight of 170 or 171-pounds. Ward's last fight took place at 171. The last time Johnson weighed below 172 was in September 2000. He came in at 178 1/2 for his last fight. [details]
thats a huge leap in competition. i dont really get ward's managers... they make him fight no-hopers forever and then all of a sudden they put him in with glen johnson???

Ward better think about his fight with Buchanan. Buchanan is NO SLOUCH

Pooh was selected for The Contender but legal issues kept him off the show after the first episode. Sugar Ray Leonard is a BIG fan of his and personally requested on 3 occasions for Pooh to be on the show and when he finally settled at 168 they let him on. He has a high knockout ratio and was knocked out of the Olympic trials by Andre Direll. So the kid can fight. In fact my first sparring session EVER was with him and he almost knocked me out with a uppercut.

Wards my boy, great dude from the OAK, BUT this is a horrible fight for him at this stage in his career, great upside if he wins, but thats very unlikely, HIGH RISK/HIGH REWARD but Johnson by late KO or wide UD
