BoxingScene.com was informed that a fight between super middleweight prospect Andre Ward (17-0, 12KOs) and former light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson (48-12-2, 33KOs) is being discussed. If a deal can be reached, Ward, a 2004 Olympic gold medal winner, would move up to meet Johnson at a catch-weight of 170 or 171-pounds. Ward's last fight took place at 171. The last time Johnson weighed below 172 was in September 2000. He came in at 178 1/2 for his last fight. [details]

I'm not sure if this is the fight Ward really wants. But I'd love to see it. I think Ward is getting impatient. He can beat just about everyone in the top 10 at his weight class, but fighting a Glen Johnson is something different altogether. First, he's as experienced as any fighter out there and second he's as hard as a rock. I say fight Sakio Bika first. If you get by that without too much trouble then entertain an offer to fight Glen Johnson.Comment

Men Ward is all good and everything, But what is happening with Dirrel, i think Dirrel is more exciting than Ward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

They both need better fights. Someday the two are going to fight each other and exciting isn't going to win it. Skill will, but they can't maximize their skill unless they fight better opponents. Hopefully they both get some good top 10 guys under their belt over the next year+. Then fall 2010 Ward-Dirrell can be one of the great fights of the new decade.Comment

About time he steps up his comp.
I mean really, how long is it going to take this kid to develop?
2004 Olympics was almost 5 years and an entire Olympiad ago.
Get to stepping Andre and quit getting by on the gold medal.
17 fights in 4 years?
Are you serious?Comment

Its not like he is lacking in talent or running out of time. I agree with you, though, now is the time to take the next step.Comment

Can someone suggest a fight that I should watch to get a better idea of how great he is? And also a fight where he gets pwned, because I think I read that he has before, also he was down in the Boone fight.
I say he would have problems against Kessler for sure, but also against Bute and even Andrade. I would like to see him step up however, if he wants the Glen Johnson fight he should take it. I wouldn't bet on him though.Comment

Can he really? I mean, I really don't see what so great about Andre other than the Olympics. He has speed, and power I guess, but he does not look that great right now, and who has he fought? He keeps his hands down a lot and doesn't appear to be very slick or well rounded.
