Berto is still too tender. He didn't look that great against Collazo IMO. I think he would have a real difficult time against Cotto.

I like Berto. I don't want to see him destroyed at such a young age by a veteran like Cotto. I think Berto is good and will one day be even better but jumping his game up to someone like Cotto this soon is ******...... But its what ever. I would watch it and or pay for it.

Berto holds a title, if he wants to be a champion he has to face other champions. Is good to see he's willing to fight the best, let's hope his handlers feel the same. It's time to unify the belts.

The thought is probably to catch Cotto while he is still at a vulnerable moment. Say what you will, Berto is willing to fight.

Marg being suspended is SO PERFECT for building "welterweight suspense"
              PLEASE make this fight happen!!!!!!!

Berto's safe route would be going through someone like Quintana next.

But you HAVE to respect Berto for sticking to what he said late last year:
"I'm going after all the best in 2009."

Berto's ready. To win? Maybe not, but to give a great performace? Absolutely.

At this point in Berto's career, this is a mismatch.

He's going to have a tough time with Cotto's jab and Berto isn't necessarily a great defender as he's been visibly hurt by lesser fighters and he'd be up against a bull like Cotto who will be relentless on him.

I like Berto, but he gets beat up bad if they fight this soon.

it would be a good fight for as long as it lasted.

berto's game so why not? you going to deny the champ a claim at legitimacy?

having said that - berto gets outboxed and stopped late.

Since when is quintana someone safe? From what I remember he beat Williams, and hes a pretty good boxer. Southpaw and slick at that, which gave berto fits with collazo.

his 0 will be taken sooner or later, better it happens in a megafight. And anyway, what better timin that now? He has to step in after the Margarito scandal, and will face a Cotto whos already been beaten once and will prolly be overconfident after the Jenning wins.

Plus, Cotto is a tad slower than Berto and its not like his defense is top notch either. Cotto is still very hittable and doesnt clinch...what if a couple of those fast Berto combos land flush? Maybe he isnt ready but maybe he can also win.
